I figured out how Paul Jr can handle all that stress from his pop. Me and my friend were watchin an episode and he pulled open one of his toolbox drawers and if you looked real real closely, you could see a small bowl and a bag of trees . Paul Jr is hitting it up!!!!

I like and hate parts of most of these shows. But every once in a while you'll get a diamond in the rough as far as fabricating techniques. For instance, Chip Foose described an easy and inexpensive way to make custom contoured running boards with a thin strip steel and a trip to the HVAC supply house....no kidding. Also walked through the steps of creating custom body part molds...nice.
A nice project would be to use TIVO to collect all the shows and edit out all the crap. Then assemble a personal library of fabrication techniques, tips and tricks.

I consider Overhaulin' to be in a different category, because the "drama" comes from the car owners and the tricks played on them rather than conflicts between the builders (although there was a *big* conflict in one early show).

Foose is just amazing. I'd be willing to watch that crew in a much longer show, sinc emany parts of their rebuilds are just glossed over.

As a side note, there has been some coverage of the 'Trading Spaces' shows indicating that the workmanship is so bad that the owners end up tearing up all the work and re-doing it after the cameras leave. The remodels look just good enough to video well from a distance. I suspect a lot of detail work on the Overhaulin cars is incomplete or shoddy when they present to the owners.

Good point. Trading spaces is an absolute joke. Monster house is very often a joke as well.....actually a horrible joke.

GH is actually one of my shows! I don't visit it much because not much happens, but what is interesting is that they've done over 10,000 episodes. Compare that to Alias, Law and Order, etc. which do about 22 episodes a year! GH does five a week.
