Direct TV. I hate Cablevision. Greedy greedy greedy.
Switched to DSL recently. Not as good as the cable modem but it got Cablevision completley out of my life. Sat outages only in SEVERE storms and I am just as likely to loose power anyway so who cares about TV.

Seahawk-
I drive a 99. They are great. I also have a few 97 and 98's in my business. I never have any problems except Op error. We also run Duramax's and Dodges. The Fords have the least problems (IMO). I would get the diesel, they have a higher up front cost, but you get it back in re-sale, etc. Jim

Sometimes they don't "turn off cable" when they're your ISP.
Had that happen at my old house. For 4 years had basic cable for nothing. Had to caution anyone "never call the cable company for anything" and it worked out. I have TIVO now and it really has changed my life. Its a VCR on steroids and never runs out of room and records programs for an entire season. Well worth the money. Joe A

We've had DirecTV for around 5 years now and it rocks; especially with the Tivo box. Honestly I cannot recall any significant downtime in that entire period. And with the 2-tuner Tivo you can record one program and watch a second at the same time (and also record it too if you want).
It's not cheap, however -- our bill is around $80/mo for a fairly basic setup with HBO/Cinemax and 3 receivers. They nickel-and-dime a fair amont so every little thing is $5/mo...

I have a small dish. With heavy rain the picture gets effected and sometimes disappears. Wind has no effect.

If anybody is planning to sign up for Dish Network between now and the end of January let me know. They have a promotion where current subscribers can officially refer someone else and the referee (?) gets free activation, free installationon up to four TVs, free equipment for four TVs (one can be a 100 hour DVR (ie Tivo like machine)), and you get a $49.99 credit on your first bill.
I get $5/month off of my bill for a year if you use my referral card.

I have DirecTV. I had Dish but changed over to get the free four room install. It's got a few bugs, but nothing that can't be solved I'm sure. I have a cable modem that works great, but there was no incentive to get cable tv-go figure. I here someone will soon be offereng a dish package that blows away cable internet and dish tv all in one package for around $60.
