Hi all,
It's getting cold out and so I can now spend more time working on my other Porsche. Here is what it looks like now. I am not done quite yet - the work is in progress.

Roll up the windows and turn it upside down, now I can see how all the bathtub references came into being.

It's very nice, what is the story behind it?

Did you take a stock model and add the farings and scoops?

Glad you guys like it. I always wanted to have a model of an early Gmund racer but couldn't find it in 1/18 scale and so as soon as I saw SunStar coming out with the 356A I decided to go for a conversion. I did do some research and saw a few shots of a 356A car with simmilar body structure to the scale model (Gmund coupe had a split windshield and other "early" parts).
Basically I started with a standard 356A model, took it apart
( obviously ), got rid of the lower moldings and filled the cavities, made alluminium farings and scoops,painted the exterior to look like the brushed alluminium, painted the interior and seats. Now I am working on customizing the engine and exhaust. I will post more photos as I go.

I think one of the very early VWbug(->356->911) models had the closed rear wheel quarters. Later one of the the citrioen and/or saab models had the same I think.

yes, there were quite a few cars of that period with the closed rear wheels. It was used in racing to lower the drag too.

incredable! Nice work! What is the scale? Got me wondering, what a middle year 911 would look like with covered wheels?

this is 1/18. It was made to resemble the much favorite version of Gmund 356A.
