Hey thanks all for your help. A kind of quite confidence about this is building in me. The physical effects of withdrawal are really starting but are tolerable.

One is that, while that morning cig is satisfying in one way, I also have noticed it ruins any brightness I might have otherwise had going. In other words, I might get some real good sleep and feel pretty cocky in the morning. A cig fixes all that. Makes my eyes droop. Makes my brain foggy and my chest hurt, removes my sense of smell. But the impact that strikes me the clearest is the droopy eyes. That cig can negate a good nights' sleep. In thirty seconds.

Another lovely side effect of quitting, hacking up massive amounts of gunk....the smoke paralyzes your villi, the now active villi work to expel all of the crud that has been building up in your lungs....I'd imagine your coughing up quite the luggies right now....

Anyway good luck, I pull for anyone trying to quit...

Angry

Ok.....22 hours for me. Other than my eyes about to pop out and my ears feel like they are going to bleed, ....no smokes. Came home to a flooded basement. Sump pump fitting came loose. The stress didn't kill me. It actually helped because I had something very important to do. When I was done sucking up the mess I asked the wife if it was ok to burn one due to unforeseen circumstances. You'd be happy to know that she slapped me in the back of the head. Ragging on a can of peanuts right now.

Lol, that's good. It is the stressful times that make it easy to cave. Glad to hear you held up.

My wife can home today with, I kid you not, 4 Lbs of suckers. 4 lbs! Oral fixation be damned

I am trying to vent on the site instead of at live, in person people. I just coughed up something that reminded me of Cleveland.

I am up to 23 hours and things are going perfect - I can't see worth a damn, and walking feels funny and my temp control systems is trash. The good news is that since I don't smoke, I will not be coughing up stuff that looks like Cleveland, but I am sure there will be some sort of equvalent fun for me in the very near future. Now what to reward myself with: AHHHHHHHH torsion bars (28mm), strut braces, cams,........

Now THAT is the kind of support I'll need. Thank her for helping.

Day four here. It is MUCH easier now on the physical side. No more shakes or sweats. I still have massive cravings, but the body seems to want no part of it. I am sleeping VERY well too! Is smoking a contibutor to insomnia? I woke up and felt pretty refreshed this morning. Do you have any idea how long it's been since I woke up refreshed?

Oh, yea, a few small pieces of Cleveland came up this morning

Yo LENNZO!

May I suggest a read-through of "Put Down Your Nicotine Rag" by beat poet Allen Ginsberg?

It can be found here: http://www.angelfire.com/bc/villanelle/cigaretterag.html

You WILL get a kick out of it! He actually performed it at my undergraduate college (not too far from where YOU live, I'll bet. . . exit 121 off I-94)

Yup. Quote from a website:

"Tobacco is a nervous system stimulant that triggers complex biochemical and neurotransmitter disruptions. It elevates heart rate and blood pressure, constricts blood vessels, irritates lung tissue, and diminishes your ability to taste and smell. "
