do you like horror films?
i usually dont have a problem. not with the old school stuff. but now that Japan has gotten into the horror film thing, i get petrified. THE GRUDGE is hideous. my buddy bought all the original japanese copies and i cant get through them. greepy is worse than gory. maybe i just realized that horror films have gotten crappy. not any more.

I really like the rare "creepy" horror movie - your POLTERGEIST or ALIEN. I actually wrote movie reviews for a horror movie magazine a few years back... and realized that most of what is out there is crap.
Although I do like the zombie genre... the Romero films are great, EVIL DEAD is great, and even the new "fast zombie" movies aren't bad.

Have you seen Shaun of the Dead? I loved it. Check it out. 28 Days Later was pretty good as well. JP

Shaun of the Dead was great. The last occult movie I watched was the Exorcist. Never again.

Dunno about you guys, but Event Horizon scared the crap out of me.
Shaun of the Dead was more a comedy to me. 28 Days Later was awesome!

Hellraiser scared the **** out of me. I don't consider that an occult film though, more like fantasy. Pinhead gave me nightmares.

SHAUN OF THE DEAD was great... perfect blend of horror and comedy, lots of Romero-gore thrown in for good measure, and a lot of in-jokes for those of us paying attention ("they're coming to get you, Barbara!")
Japanese horror/action seems to get it right. They understand that lots of blood and cats jumping out to scare the protagonist don't always make a scary movie. I am thinking of JU-ON, RINGU, SUICIDE CIRCLE, and, of course, the wonderful BATTLE ROYALE.

JU-ON was really good. Takes a couple of times to get it though...

I think BATTLE ROYALE is absolutely the best action movie I have ever seen, period... ranks up there with THE ROAD WARRIOR (another favorite)

First time I saw " From Dusk till Dawn ", I didn't know about the " Horror " part. It took me totally by surprise & absolutely loved it.

Re-animater (sp) is a classic in my book - it is stupid, somewhat gross but had some real funny scenes in it as well. Hell Raiser was good.
Tabs - I saw the Exorcist first time on a bad combo of Thi Stick, Chevis and a few micro-dots back in the early 80's. Things have never been the same...
