The far right Christian element of the Rep party has little political or Congressional power. They were tossed a bone of recognition last year by allowing them to have a bill in Congress. It sat around and didn't go any distance. Congress didn't even consider the bill. Congress's reaction was "Oh yeah, sure, we'll discuss it later, call me tomorrow." That was the last time they had a tight voter block among them over an issue. Anyone slamming that group as a significant influence on the Rep part is incorrect imo.

Since you ask, I have visited the US maybe 20 times. I am most familiar with LA, So Cal, Dallas, Boston, New York and parts of Connecticut. My favorite parts of the States are Connecticut, NYC and the So Cal coast especially around Laguna Beach. My least favorite place has been, unfortuately, New Orleans and anywhere in Texas. I was in NYC on Sep 11, 2001. I like America and Americans.
