Anyone hear from Singpilot lately??

I would think even if he were laid up on some tropical beach somewhere he'd at least have his laptop with him to join in here.
hope all is well Bud.

Met him once, great guy, good stories. Probably holed up with a 6-pack on the harbor or jetting about with some fancy-pants having a good-ol' time.

Have not seen him since the New Years Day run with you Kevin. He's probably in the air somewhere.

Was that for us?????

Shute... flying my A$$ off lately. Have not had time for goofing off with you guys. Have done a transcon every day this week. Arrived Teterboro tonight 9pm-ish, depart tomorrow at 1800 back to LaLaland.

Arrived Tuesday night 2am (wed morn, actually) in Teterboro, went to airport hotel. Was woken up next morning by an ex-girlfriend at 0735 eastern. I answered (groggily), and she hesitated, then said "Shute, you're alive??? I guess I still owe you that money...." When I asked what the F she was talking about, she said "turn on your TV" and hung up.

Of course, saw the crash. We were supposed to depart at 1300. All fuel at TEB was quarantined, and the airport was closed until 1830. We had enough (without buying any at TEB) to make Newark, and went there, met the pax, refueled, and went west.

Was quite a day.

Other than that, have been busy is all.

Thanks for wondering about me.

Kev, did the guy that ended up with my 911 call you?

ScottB, I sent one of my newhires up to your neighborhood to look at houses. He came back and said they were running over a mil. Didn't know you were a millionaire.

Michael.

Hey Your back.........quess I still owe you a beer. Hadn't heard from you in a while and figured you'd ended up retired on some tropical beach singing Jimmy Buffet songs w/o me.
Yes he called. But I haven't heard from him since. Must have left all his money with you.
Good to hear from you.

It's a small world....

My 911SC was sold to a guy that walked up to me on the street and said he HAD to have it. He had gotten out of a AMG Mercedes, and approached me at a gas station in Las Vegas. He asked what it would take to buy it. I pulled an incredible number out of my butt, and said it. He said OK. We met at his bank (same as my bank), and traded money for pink. That was the last I saw of my car. In Nevada, we keep our plates, so he got it without plates. Several months later, I saw a new member here asking a question about a car that I recognized. Yes, it was my car. I emailed him and asked a question about the car that he would recognize. It was, in fact, the one.

He said he bought it from a schoolteacher in ABQ who couldn't stand the clutch (it had a heavier than usual clutch spring). She said she bought it from a dealer in Texas. I would have said that the guy I bought it from was taking it to Colombia.

He wanted to paint it, asked for a reference. I knew only one painter, and had seen a bunch of Kev's work.

He described a number of changes that had been made to the car (most of them inexplicable) in the 3 months that it had been gone.

Yes, it is an amazingly small world.

What do you fly anyway? I used to fly PA31's and Be99's for Ameriflight out of Burbank & Portland Oregon. . . I kind of gave up on the aviation industry though - it's too insane right now. Too many furloughs, layoffs, uncertainties.

I do miss the flying though. . . terribly.

Sing,

Had a lot of the same happen. Loads of emails and cell phone calls saying "please answer" .... I fly the 604 but many people cannot tell one large white private jet from another.

I know the Captain of the bird in Teterhole, flew with him in Berlin. Sounds like they had a hyd actuator or three not working on the horiz stab. Said (through the lawyer... interesting...) that the stick would not go back more than an inch when he tried to rotate.

Report says that they aborted at 176 knots and was still going 104 knots when the CVR stopped working, assume at point of impact with the building. I hate Teterhole... too damm many things around there and no room to safely get stopped if something like this happens.

Just did the same thing you did all week long, now off for a week then got a "crossing" to Bermuda and Spain. Does it ever slow down??!!

Not being a Monday morning quarterback, but Item #2 on our 'Before Takeoff Checklist' is Flight Controls...Checked..

(pull up the flight control synoptic page and verify full movement on all controls)

rattlsnak,

My thoughts exactly! Problem is that I have never flown a CL600. Flew for Bombardier for a long time (and flew everything the factory made during that time) but that puppy is 20 years old and the vast majority of them are with the Canadian Air Force, with very few of them still flying in civilian hands.

The -600 does not have the EFIS like we have, nor does the 601. Both of them do have the "check controls free and clear" on the checklist and its a good question what happened there.

They would have to have lost both engine driven hyd pumps AND three electric backup pumps... OR lost the three PCU's on the horiz stab. Other idea would be a jammed control column but this would have shown up on the checklist. Would have been lots of yellow lights on the glareshield if the hyd system was down, so there are a lot of questions and no answers here just yet.

What do you fly? Am in a 604.

I fly the G4SP and G550 usually. I try to stay current in the MD87's as well. Have not done much on the airline side this winter, we usually fly the NHL, so I have not been needed over there.

I am typed in both the 601 and 604 as well. The reports at TEB today were that as well, that the pitch actuators were 'frozen'. No rotate.

Agreed, that is multiple failure times two. For those of you flying for a living, they were going thru the crew bags this afternoon, holding the dirty undies up to the bright lights, opening every suitcase and x-raying the remains, every toilet article opened and emptied. Pill bottles opened, counted, and numbers on the capsules verified as to contents with a Pharmacy handbook. Checking number of pills vs the prescription. Counting pairs of socks vs number of days on the trip. Checking the balance totals and math in a checkbook. I looked at the FA differently after her suitcase was inventoried. The only reason I saw this was that our plane was sharing the hangar with the inventory process.

I am cleaning out my luggage tomorrow morning.

Michael,

My limit would have been passed a long time ago when anyone wants to count my skivvies or socks. Its none of their frigging business. I do not even carry one pill bottle, all my vitamins and meds are in a "one a day for a week" plastic holder, so they can kiss my rosey A$$.

Just who and where was this? Not at Teterhole... must have been a commercial hub? Have flown commercial once in the last year and that was one time too many.

One time my FA went through and some dick decided that he needed to search her bags. She was in uniform... and he found a vibrator there. He held it up and asked her "whats a FA use this for" in a loud voice... she replied, "bend over big boy and I will show you" and he promptly put it up and pushed her out of the area.

My boss just bought a NHL team... want to come down here and fly?

What? The NTSB suggesting that it's PILOT ERROR? UnTHINKable.

Obviously said with tongue locked overcenter into cheek.

Joe, no runoff room? How about LGA, SNA, or DCA? We were in TPA this weekend and flew back into LGA Rwy 4. Talk about nowhere to go! I'd love to see if it were even possible to do a successful RTO from a V1 Cut.

Michael, nice to hear from you.

John,

Guess we should also add Naples, Carlsbad and Santa Monica to that list, not to mention Telluride and Aspen. Then there is Samadan, Innsbruck and the old Hong Kong airport... Got grey hair early going into those places!

Glad that our boss does not go to ANY of the above airports (except for Carlsbad) and if we do not like the airport he says we will land elsewhere. Took me 32 years to find someone like this to fly for and gonna keep him safe and sound!
