lorenfb & frienemies

lorenfb's recent posts in this forum - for the record

This thread was pointing out personal attacks BY Loren, but I noticed that the entire thread WAS a personal attack AGAINST Loren.

Now I also noticed that the thread posted by Loren was deleted completely, but the Loren-bashing thread was only locked. I suppose a man's right to face his accusers only works if the guy is nice all the time, even to imbeciles.

Now myself personally, I think everybody who participated in that thread in a derrogatory manner should be banned for a period of not less than 10 days, with a warning advising permanent banning for future problems.

To chastise only Loren seems like favoritism, and I don't even mind being banned for 10 days if all guilty parties are done likewise.

Rules are rules after all, for EVERYONE last I heard...

The thread you link to was not a good idea, but there was no personal attack or defamation of loren by the original poster (me), just a record of his comments, and a statement that they were personal attacks, which I think others will agree with.

That is all I will say in this thread. I have learned this type of thread is a bad idea.

I think the thread as a whole is being questioned, not your obvious integrity...

I would like to see these policies adopted from another BB that I subscribe:

Mandatory Rules

"Violation of these rules will result in immediate banning from the boards for an indefinite amount of time. These rules are enforced very strictly and violations will be acted upon immediately.

1. Respect- Treat everybody with respect. Be kind towards one another and the site will be a much happier place. This site thrives on the friendliness of its members and anyone who disrupts that peace will be seriously frowned upon. If you do not treat people in a respectful manner, you will first receive a warning from the administrator, if you fail to change your habits, you will be banned for an indefinite amount of time.

2. Flaming- Absolutely no personal insults. Any insults will be immediately removed and the poster will be warned or banned at the discretion of the administrator. Insults include any derogatory words about a persons age, sex, race or religion. Light hearted and friendly joking are acceptable, but as soon as someone becomes offended or the conversation turns sour, the post will be immediately removed.

3. Flame Wars- Do not attempt to start or become involved in a flame war. In the event that fighting should break out before it is able to be locked or deleted, you need to either try to settle the conversation down or stay out of it all together. Any people flaming will be banned for at least a month. Keep the peace and make the board a better place. We look down on all malicious posts.

4. Locked Threads- Do not bring back locked topics. Once a topic has been closed for discussion, it is meant to stay that way. You will receive a warning for any violations and repeated violations will result in a temporary ban on your account. It is also unacceptable to create a post demanding a reason for why a post was locked/deleted. Once a post is closed, simply move on.

5. Multiple Posting- Do not post multiple threads in different sections of the site. This includes threads such as " I got 300m leather today!" There is no need for you to make a post of it in Performance Modifications, General Discussion, and Whatever. Choose one section and stick to it. Also refrain from taking a thread that is clearly a technical question and creating it in Whatever assuming it will get more replies/attention. Any such posts beyond accident will result in a warning and the thread will be moved with a re-direct link.

6. Free Posting ( aka Post whoring)- Post whoring is a term used by many here and at many other message boards, Post whoring is when someone will reply to as many threads as possible for the sole purpose of raising a post count, this can include making worthless threads, only replying with smiley faces more than necessary, and creating "post count celebration" threads. Having a high post count does not always make you more respected or known, its the quality of your posts that make the difference and its the quality of posts that your fellow members will appreciate your contributions by.

7. Company/ Site Bashing- If you have had a problem or an isolated incident with one of our advertisers or another website please resolve the matter before posting about your experience here. Everyone has a mistake or a problem once in a while and we do not approve of our sponsors being bashed without the right to defend themselves. We choose reputable people to do business with, and our sponsors have done hundreds of transactions with our members here. If you have a problem with a sponsor of ours and are not able to resolve it with them or are unable to contact them please send the administrator an email and we will see if we can resolve it peacefully. Complaints against advertisers aren't against the rules, but you are encouraged to resolve the matter prior to posting. Also we don't approve of other site bashings, there are many other auto enthusiast message boards and there are thousands of other message boards in general. If you have a problem with them do NOT make a thread degrading their members and them, this will cause a flame war, where other members from the other site will register here and do nothing but cause trouble and or attack the members from here that posted about them. Although DodgeIntrepid.Net is not responsible for your actions and activities online, if you are found causing problems at other sites and using DodgeIntrepid.Net as your representation, your account will receive disciplinary action.

8. Controversial/Questionable Threads- We do allow threads in the whatever section that involve moral issues and politics, but it is highly expected that you are to remain calm and to post with common sense while following the courtesy rules. If someone does not agree with your point of view then give up, once a thread turns sour, then it will be either sent to the Recycle Bin or to The Edge. Please do not ruin the thread for others that want to have an intelligent debate. Leave flames, name calling, and emotion driven comments to yourself if they are in violation of the courtesy rules.

9. Not Work Safe(NWS)- These type of threads are allowed (mainly in The Edge forum) but must be within good taste, this is a family oriented site. If you are planning on posting an adult based thread you must include the heading: NWS or "not work safe" in the title of the thread itself so that our members browsing at work will not get into trouble. There is to be no nudity or sexual pictures in signatures or avatars, as these can be downloaded to a temporary internet file without the member actually even seeing it on the screen, especially an avatar from a member that has a high post count and posts in various sections. Any adult content must be displayed as a hyperlink to another site. All links containing nudity must be titled as nudity. (eg-Here's the link...Nudity. It is ok as long as it does not become a routine habit by members, if it does become a problem you will receive a warning or a PM from a moderator or administrator.

10. Trolling/Sub Accounts- If you have more than one registered name at DodgeIntrepid.Net's forums and are found trolling or causing trouble and controversy your alter-ego will be permanently banned and your primary name will receive a warning or temp-ban based on the severity of your actions. If you are banned under your normal user name and sign on to post from your alter-ego name, not only will we block both names, we will block the IP address as well. If you are banned for any reason then you must wait your time out like everyone else, failure to cooperate may result in a permanent IP block. If you need to speak to one of the administrators you can email them and or arrange to speak to them through instant messages about the situation."

Cheers,

Joe

Thank you. I was only actually shooting for as intelligent as the predecessors, but being equally unintelligent makes my self-esteem rise like the crime-rate of a large city...

Executions would be nice, unless you're against capital punishment. Then I'd suggest public caning.

I think the best way to deal with this is to move on.

I'm going to move it to OT, where anyone who wants to can continue to discuss it.

ok, i am done.
1. I used to own a Porsche, and I work on them for a living, and I used to work at Pelican for that matter. So I think I am slightly covered in my qualifications to speak on this matter. How much German-car related knuckle bleeding have you done this week alone?

2. No, I didn't make it to the end of the other thread, so I don't know what the end result was, I just know that what I read was people attacking Loren's character, and his thread in response got deleted entirely, but the original thread is still there.

Normally, I don't get myself involved in this kind of crap, and if you look at my post history, you'll see that about 75% of my total post have been tech-related.

What the....?

Looks like a freud on the 911 boards have spilled over here. No sir, I don't like it.

stlrj: there are forum rules in place here, in the OT dungeon, very similar to what you posted.

As stated above, this thread is stupid. As such, it is now closed. To those who wish to carry this further, I suggest that you walk away from your computer and take a deep breath - it is not worth arguing and attacking like this on the web!

Further such discussion will result in banning. Continuing on the same line of thought by opening yet another thread will also result in banning.

I don't know what transpired over on the 911 tech board, and frankly, I don't care. But this thread is now here. And it is now closed.

Regards,
-Z-man, OT Forum moderator.
