I had a Trabbi.
It was one of the most relialbe cars I have ever had.
I drove it evey day as a daily driver for three years.
It never failed to start and there is nothing like the sound of a Two Stroke on the pipe.
I swapped out the single header pipe for a twin down pipe and put two Yamaha 250 MX expansion chambers on.
Man was that a sweet sound.
I would dump a bottle of Vanilla extract in the gas tank so the exhaust smelled like I was baking a cake.
I finally sold it to a Hungary guy who paid me way to much for it but hey he was reliving his youth out here in the USA.
I had a guy on Sunset pull up in a 250gt Ferrari and give me the thumbs Up.
I met more people and had so many photos taken of it parked at Topanga went I went surfing.
I finally started a guest log book for people to sign I have over a thousand entries in them.
I rented it out for a couple of movies.
If you want to see it do a search for the movie "Driving Me Crazy" with Thomas Gottchalk and Billy Dee Williams.
In the movie it ran on Onions and went 200 mph.
I real life it ran on TWC2 and topped out at 70 mph.

Yes I got it thru a german friend who middle man the deal when I sold my BMW 700 to the factory for the mueseum I told them the only way I would sell the 700 was if the got me a Trabbi.
It was delivered to me I never asked how they got it in the country and got plates on it.
It was delivered to me titled and licensed in my name.
It had 6000 KM on the speedo.
My 700 Was Super clean as it had only 12000 miles on it.
It spent its life in a Hangar at Cable airport as a car for the owner to drive when he flew in.
The Guy was killed in a plane crash and the car just sat in the hangar for many years. It was just a chance thing that I got it from a buddy who bought the content of the hangar and didnt want the car.
The Factory wanted it bad so they did what they had to to get me to sell it.

It was simple I had the best example of a BMW 700 Cs in the World and the BMW Factory wanted it.
I didnt ask how they got it here or how it was titled in my name.
I knew that there was NOWAY that you could get one here and get it on the road thats why I said I would only sell it if they got me a Trabbi.
I set the Bar High along with the price I never thought that I would actually sell the car to them.
But my buddy who was acting on my behalf got me both my asking price and the Trabbi.
The Trabbi showed up in a Wagonmaster Transporter that was loaded with new 750 Il Bmws.
If the EPA or DOT came after the car I was ready to play dumb and I really didnt want to know how they did it.

You can pretty much include any car made by Pontiac in this thread.

I dunno about that. I enjoyed my goat herding days of the 1960's...

Hey are those Trabbi's in the U2 video? I think the song is "one".
The cars have drawings one of a man and the other of a women on the top of the car and they keep missing each other in the video.

Yep those are Trabbis. I have been looking for some photos. But that was pre Digi Cam days. I think I have some packed away in my storage unit.
