I suggest it is time to remove embargo of Cuban products.

I was thinking about this last night in lieu of the capitalist/socialist thread. Yes, it is time. The fastest way to kill socialism is the introduction of (real) economy. Fidel would be out on his ass in a fiscal heartbeat.

What does that have to do with opening trade with Cuba?
Did you respond to the wrong thread again?

I'll be down in St. Vincent, Dominica and the Grand Bahamas over the next few months on work on Pirates of the Caribbean 2&3 , and like the last time I was there ,two months ago, I can get REAL Cuban cigars for $5-$6 each, or less. Versus the fake ones in Mexico for three times that.

Tough thing to do.. No political party wants to lose Florida.

They have no embargos with Canada, Asia and the E.C. What effect would it really have? Old Fidel is still in charge, any change would be on his terms..

What do we have that they cant get?? Cuban rum and cigars really are the best though. One day..

Florida is a loss for the Democrats. Maybe they should promote this. After all, it was a Democrat that started it just after he got all the cigars he needed.

Agreed. Look what happened to the Soviet Union when Glasnost and Peristroika were implented. Isnt China pretty much on it's way economically as well?

Also, Dominican cigars are just as good as Cubans, IMHO

Got bags searched at customs on the way back last time. Smoke them there and bring a few back without the bands.

Its way past time to end the embargo. The Cubans in Florida are a strong political force but they have had their time in the sun.

Just returned from a week in Bermuda. Nice Cubans there but there are others that are just as good. Rum from anywhere in the Carib is excellent.

End it and get on with life...

My 30 years of cigars says that a REAL Cohiba Lancero is something special. At $600 a box however, I'll smoke my Padrons, Fuentes, etc.

If the embargo ends, the price of Cuban cigars would go up from the American market's demand. Why would you want that?

Cuban vs Dominican or Honduran for that matter....Each local makes GOOD cigars...maybe it can be viewed as different varieties of Grapes are...each has it's own little difference in flavor, but they still all taste like Grapes..who is to say one is better than the other...

Castro Nationalized Business to get rid of the corrupting influence that Organized Crime had on Cuba...and the only way he could do that was to throw out the Americans and purge the system of those who worked for or were in the pay of Organized crime....The only other major player at the time to block an American invasion was the USSR...and a Communist ideology...

They have a place right here in Newark where they make thier own cigars, just as good if not better than most "high end" cigars I've had.
I think the reason most people think Cuban cigars are so good is because they are taboo!

Yeah, I can't understand why anyone would pay more than $1 for a cigar. I'd put a good ol' Phillies Blunt up against any of those high faluttin' premium brands any day!
