Time to get rid of the Varioram.
In my unending and psychotic quest to shave every last gram of weight, I will be replacing it with a 2.2 S engine. It is indeed lighter. Next up: Narrower tires. 165/15s. MUCH lighter. Rotating mass = bad. Wish me luck.

Sounds like the way to go, glad you were finally talked into it.
I'll be by to pick up the 3.6 this weekend, good thing I'm getting those huge brakes from Dane for the pig. ![]()

Yeah, those 930 brakes have to go too.
They are just too heavy. Looking for Ti bolts for my air filter hinges too. Weight off the back is good.

Well, if you reduce the oil capacity to 4 qts it makes much more sense.
I'm also thinking of shaving off the door handles as they create a ton of lift at 70 or 80 mph. I read it in a book by some guy.

I didn’t even flinch when I read that. I’ve been borderline schizophrenic when it comes to choosing an engine though so I thought I knew where you were coming from

Funny thing about this post is that someone actually suggested the same thing to me on Pelican.

If you take out the front and rear glass, the wind doesn't have to go over the car. This should significantly improve aerodynamics.

No, I want a 1975 motor. Sweet my ass*.
And I am reducing my battery size too. To 2 'D' cells. Energizer. The bunny ones. And since I don't like humans, only ones on internet forums that I won't meet, I am removing the passenger seat.

If you REALLY want to go light, remove BOTH seats and learn the proper squatting technique....

Maybe if you put pressurized air canisters in the wheel wells, you could discharge the air downwards to help reduce weight rocket style?

A 5hp Briggs and Stratton (pull start) would really shave those unwanted pounds off...
