An Ode to Comcast

I call you up, you make me wait,

Die Comcast, Die,

I say you suck, you say you're great,

Die Comcast, Die,

Broadband is out, you don't know why,

Die Comcast, Die,

Unplug the modem, give it a try!

Die Comcast, Die,

It doesn't work, great big sigh,

Die Comcast, Die,

We'll send a tech, he'll have a smile,

Die Comcast, Die,

In several days, or after while,

Die Comcast, Die,

He doesn't show, Oh what a surprise,

Die Comcast, Die,

The anger's showing in my eyes,

Die Comcast, Die,

I call em back, temper ablazin,

Die Comcast, Die,

Simmer down, says the agent,

Die Comcast, Die,

We'll send him back, in two days,

Die Comcast, Die,

Fuch you too, is all I say,

Die Comcast, Die.

Mark

Feel your pain.

Had a cable package that cost around $80 a month for 100 channels and cable modem.

Wife comes home and there is a lineman outside the house. She asks what's up and he says "nothing, won't affect you".

She goes inside and the TV is only getting 22 channels, figures it's due to what the guy is doing and goes about her busines.

Day later still only 22 channels so she calls up and they say "well we re-arranged the channels for the new IO service so if you want the same number of channels that you had it'll cost you $150 a month, oh and the cable modem went up $10 as well.

F U, called Direct TV and reactivated my satellite dish and the second that DSL was available in my area I switched to it and dumped the cable modem.

Service for both is not the same as with Cablevision but at least I'm getting what I'm paying for and don't feel like I'm being raped every month.

I hate the Dolans. Greedy M'fo's.

I love my CableVision internet service.

I set it up myself. At first I couldn't get it going. Turned out my signal was too strong. I had to introduce a splitter to reduce it. Never looked back since.

Now I'm considering their phone service.

I heard too many nightmare stories about any Bell/VErizon/ATT (ISDN/DSL) offerings.

Amen, Scott. I gave my notice on Monday and will be moving off of Lawng Eyelandt at the end of the month ... the best part is getting rid of iO! Honest to God. What a piece of ***** 'service' that is. I'll get Roadrunner wherever I wind up and go back to satellite ... which never told me when I asked for the f*cking channel guide: "unable to display this information."

This is just half of the story. I have Comcast TV as well. They started On Demand in Dallas a month or so ago. It only works part of the time. I called the dickweed CS line - waited 15 minutes, talked to a surly as hell CSR. She said it would be fixed in 48 hours. Three days later - still no worky. Call again, wait 20 minutes, CSR has no record of previous call and will have to send out one of their techs. I have to wait a week......

Die Comcast, Die.........

Rick -
Syracuse; for the short/medium term. I love it up there and I can enjoy the toys on the wide-open, winding roads. Even if only for 7 months a year.

lmao Mark!

interesting thing is that I have Verizon DSL and all I need to do is substitute Verizon for Comcast in your poem and it would be a near carbon copy of my recent ordeals. I went through a three-and-a-half week ordeal with a sporadically working (about 97% off and 3% on) connection that mysteriously re-connected when I was about to go ballistic. things have been working flawlessly since then. but irony of all ironies, this morning the same ***** seems to be happening all over again!!!

Those cable b*stards drilled a bunch of holes in the exterior of our house and mollied a big green ground wire into my wall, without asking. I ripped the wire out (without asking) and dropped them the next day and got DirecTV. Their final words to us on the phone were "You'll be back - those dishes don't work very well." I don't think so.

DirecTV is great, by the way.

I went with Comcast TV and cable modem at my new house thinking that I could not use DirecTV as south of me are large trees and a big hill. Spent way too much money for crap TV service and a horrible (what were they thinking?) selection guide interface until I got fed up after six months. Had a two line DirecTV dish, TiVO and separate tuners for $5 less a month than the rat-bast$rds at Comcast were charging for service that did not even include Speed Channel!

Here here: Die Comcast Die!

Oh yeah, after I cancelled I got my final cable bill, they had the nerve to charge me a $3 disconect fee. You bet I called right away, told them this was one of the reasons people hate you guys. If I'd stopped paying my bill you would have cut me off for free but since I cancel it's gotta cost me?

For those of you who may be considering a dish but have the "tree" issue.

I planted this "bush", max height was supposed to be 8 feet.

Take a look at it now, does not affect my dish at all.

The only high-speed in my area is Verizon DSL and Insight (Cable). I went with Insight. Their customer service is local (on the other side of town) and available 24 X 7. I've called them on several occassions, and they have always fixed the problem (whether on my end or theirs) in...get this...MINUTES.

The trees on the left are to the south of the house. Reception has never been an issue.

I too have DirecTV, and I've never had ANY reception problems at all.

I miss the days when you had those little brown boxes. Was pretty easy to rig them up for free.

Mark, most of the time, if you want to cancel a service, call the # for new customers, the reps. most likely do the same job. In thru the in door.

I have Comcast as my ISP. The last week has been nothing but trouble. For two days the internet was down, and they said that their server was not achieving what they had expected! Ahhh! Some similair experiences happened a few weeks ago also! At least they did not charge us for 2 days because of our "trouble".

The comcast dns servers were down. There have been big outages for the last few weeks all over the country.

http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=1279

You can manually set your internet connection to use non-comcast dns when this happens. I use(d) Level 3's

4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2

I've never had cable service, but my DSL service though SBC sux ass, and I haven't been able to get them to do much about it. For one, they don't like the fact that I use a DSL router, and the one time I did jump through the tech support hoops, they made me disconnect it and install their proprietary crap on my PC.

When I was building my shop, the physical cable was in the way. I called the cable company (ComCast) to have them remove it, and I got the expected upsell. I told them I had no use for cable TV, and to just please remove the wire. Two weeks went by, and now it's really in the way - they're trying to set the trusses. I called and asked again to remove the wire, I got the sales pitch "well, we're having a special right now...." I cut her off and said "look, either you send someone out to remove the line, or I'll do it, and it won't be in a manner you like" When I got home from work, the line was gone
