You are 100% correct. I would never dream of asking permission to go play golf, or go away with my friends. In fact I'm leaving Friday for a week in Belize with old college pals. My wife would never give me grief about stuff like this. Imagine this bizarre marital situation; my wife loves me and wants me to be happy. Strange, huh? On the flip side, I never try to micro-manage my wife. Never. I can't imagine living in a marriage with a woman who has "control" issues. A marriage should not feel like a prison sentence. I've been married for 24 years and I cannot bear to think of what my life would be like without my wife and kids.

Oh, in the event of a tie, I win.

And you thought liberals were delusional!

:)

In the event of a tie, we do rock, paper, scissors.

In the event of a tie, I do a double-Windsor.

Don't know how I missed that! A pre-nup that specifies "I'm the boss". No way I could sell that at home. Not a chance.

lendaddy 05-11-2005 10:28 AM

Guys, you read waaaaay to much into that. What we agreed is that if we ever come to a stalemate where we simply cannot agree, that there must be a final say. My wife (being intelligent) would never agree to this with a person she did not trust to never abuse it. I have not and like I said, it has onlt occured once in our 14 years together. It does not get used on ewhere we are going to dinner or other trivial matters.

For you enginer types, shouldn't this be simple math. I use my numbers

raising a child thourgh age 18 = 250,000 or 13,888 per year
Wife:
Engagement ring $10,000
Wedding $ 5,000
Honeymoon $5,000
aniversary ring $5,000
Tennis bracelet $6,000
Dia. earings $5,000
total: $36,000
2 year old child: $27,776
Grand total $63,776

Now compare to quarterly visit to the Mustang ranch near Reno
$4,000 per year

$63,000/24 months of marriage $2,657 per mo.
$8,000 total cost of mustang ranch $333 per month.

Stay single, get a chick on the side, but not serious to keep expenses down , to supliment the Mustang Ranch... come out way ahead.

If you can't find the situation I ouitlined.....the by ALL means you are absolutely correct!:)

This was actually my point in the first place.

tc-sacto 05-11-2005 04:21 PM

Yea,
I forgot about them closing the Mustang Ranch. I should have said the Bunny Ranch in Carson City. But the Idea still holds :0)

HA! That's exactly what she said!

You meant supper, right?

This conversation made me think of the (relatively recent) legalisation of prostitution here in NZ. One of the biggest, err, Gentlemen's Clubs (there was even a reality TV show about the strip club in it) is called the Whitehouse. It even has a presidential seal.

FrayAdjacent911 05-11-2005 06:19 PM

Cam, would that be of the 'whitehouse.com' fame?

Many a yankee got suckered by that domain name.... The site for the actual White House is 'whitehouse.gov'...

CamB 05-11-2005 07:33 PM

Different I assume. Mostly because I am not especially keen to type it into my browser at work to check.
