Need to buy new cordless phones
I was using 2.4 phones, but they are killing my wireless network.
Any suggestions on what 5.8 phones to get? Michael

Are you sure you need to get a new cordless phone system in the 2.4GHz band? I have a cordless phone system by Siemens in the 2.4GHz band and have no problems of interference with my 802.11b network. Perhaps you have the cordless phone base station too close to your wireless access point (although, frankly, mine are a foot apart). Or you might fiddle with the settings for your wireless access point. Perhaps you just need a newer or better cordless phone system in the 2.4GHz band. The reason I bring this up is that in the next couple of years we could be increasingly using 802.11a networks, which operate in the 5GHz band, and it would be a bummer to have to switch cordless phone systems yet again . . .

jyl,
My phones are older, I couldn't keep a wireless signal in the house, until I turned off all the phone and it works perfect. Thanks for the input. Michael

Hmm, I have a 2.4Ghz phone and an 802.11b/g wireless with no problems. I've actually had a number of cards (both 11b and 11g) operating within a few feet of the transmitting phone with no detectable interference at all.

Michael,
I recently purchased the 5.8 Ghz Panasonic phones. It came with 3 phones plus a 3 person voicemail system for approx $250 at the time. I think the system is cheaper now. No interference with my Linksys Wireless Access Point. I used to have the 2.4 Ghz Siemens phones. Those were good while they lasted and when I bought them, they were first of their kind.

I've got a GE 5.8 phone with an answering machine. I HATE it. It works ok but the controls for the answering machine suck.
No problems with the wireless network.
