That is very possable - I spoke to my boss about it and he actually said something similar. I told him that "that being so, it is a different matter. he is outspoken enough, be man enough and tell me that my kid belongs home". The way I looked at it is that I am on the road way too much. They ask me to work Saterdays as well? OK - no problem, but I'll bring my boy in. If I was in another profession, I would bring him in as well provided it was safe and reasonable.

I plan on bringing him with me more and more the older he gets, provided he wants to be with me. I plan on taking him with me into all the various factories and jobsites. If he is game, think of the things he will learn and see. And I would always make certain of safety and so forth. If the job as an issue with that, I can always get another job. I can't get another Max or get back time that I don't get to be with him. I don't want it to go that way, but that is how I feel.

I guess I feel bad that I don't get to spend time with him (or my Daughter or my Wife) as much as I would like and this is one way to do it.

Again, I think that the issue was handled incorrectly by your company's Management. I do understand about insurance liabilities and the potential danger of a child being hurt, etc.

If noone has told you otherwise then shame on them for handling it wrong. Keep in mind that children may not wish to dissapoint us by saying NO. Ive BTDT but I was glad that it was finally revealed indirectly.

Good Luck to you, keep an eye on him as next time that idiot Manager may say something that would be irrepairable in your sons eyes...

Absolutely! I couldn't agree more. The only way in an instance as this is to go one-on-one in private.

Who gives a rats ass about HR policies or bring your kid to work insurance liabilities (and I am in the HR field). What the guy did was wrong - plain wrong. The ONLY way to approach is man on man - If the company tolerates it, then that's not the type of company I would work for. He does that to me - first he gets a warning - 2nd time and he'll be sitting to pee for the rest of his life.

Based on your statements, you are definately NOT a mainstream Human Resources Professional....

I don't like being controlled By getting back at him you are letting him control you. I personally find "difficult" people a bit of a challenge. You know, let's see if I can get past the A-hole layer to the nice person inside. There are a lot of nice people trapped in the body's of A-holes. If they turn out to be A-holes to the core being nice to them to plays with their heads so it's win-win.

Life is too short to waste time trying to one up an A-hole Personnaly I think it is a waste of my precious Life Force trying to prove something to someone I don't even respect.

I think Chris' advice is the best of any here. Too bad fewer people can live up to this standard. And it is a great standard that is almost fable in today's world.

...no, no surprises here. That is why I qualified my statement.

Getting back to the real issue,

Next meeting, I would live Jr. at home. Come in with my best game face. Conduct myself as a true professional asking or making well-thought, intelligent observations. At the end of the day shake hands (with crushing force) with Mr. Dork and give him the best Fuch You grin you can deliver.

Mike, I admire your cool. I would have gotten right in the guys face, and said something like, "F*** you, you puss-nuts dipdunk a**hole". Not too many years ago that kind of behavior would have meant pistols at 20 paces. Maybe you should start wearing a gun....

This is an Interesting Article Everyone Should Read

125Shifter,

This is an amazing article. I think LUBE should take the little quiz at the end of the article and tell us how this D*&k scored, I'd be interested.

For anyone who has been victimized by a psyhcopath I think that the sharp tipped boots is the ideal solution. I was married to one!!!! It is an amazing defect, without a remedy, so if this VP disses Lube people in front of his son, confronting the D^&k in the hopes of teaching him something will have the opposite effect. He probably doesn't have a conscious anyway and you will reveal to him that he got to you, which is just what the d&^k wants. The covert ops is the way to go with him as a direct confrontation will result in nothing, the guy may not have a conscious, so why waste your time. It is very hard to understand what these types of beings are like and what they will do or are capable of, so slip on your pointy boots, and/or do him from a political ambush. And if the chance happens, kick him in the nuts (of course no one can be watching).

Why trust him or give him the respect that he lacks? Is this cruel? So be it, these folks exist.

And now on a happier note, the 911 gets new suspension!!!

I feel much better now.

Danimal

If this is a pattern with the guy, I agree that talking to him won't help. He seems to have some insecurities. I think you handled the situation with your son perfectly.

I would take the high road and just keep doing your job the best you can. Things usually come around for a guy like that without anyone's help.

The guy has been very very nice to me lately - I helped his top rep cap three sweet closes thet should push his numbers up. I think he will get wrapped by the CEO for not following through with a certain business direction the CEO wanted his division to explore. He thought he was being smart by only throwing marginal reps at a certain focused market - well, the CEO wanted to establish a whole nee business group but need to make it succeed rather quickly to build corporate confidence. The a$$wipe veep thought that he didn't want to commit all his horses to a battle he fealt didn't have fast enough return on so he placed decent reps (but not the best) into the frey. Well, you guessed it, the growth requirements haven't been met according to projections.

Call me a sheep, but when the CEO tells you to direct business a certain way, unless he has been proven to be a puttz, you do it. Our CEO is a real savy guy and not a puttz. I would trust him with my money, this veeps ego is getting in the way. Its too bad their is nobody in the wings to take his place.
