But seriously, yeah, we get your point. Do you get ours? Here is another opportunity:

Start a TV station that is not sitcoms, not sports, just news and political discussion, and give it a slogan like "Fair and Balanced."

Then, bring nothing but right-wing propaganda talk shows on.

Sure, some of us know bull**** when we see it, but it's not always that easy to see, and for many voters (obviously), even easy stuff goes unexamined. The voter is incredibly gullible. Have you ever seen one of those shows where they interview folks on the street and ask them easy question about, say, geography? Are you aware of the misconceptions that were out there at election time?

So yeah, you can point out that there are pure-entertainment talks shows on the "Fair and Balanced" station, but are you unaware of the hundreds of thousands, or perhaps millions of people who have no idea what you're talking about when you say it is "entertainment" and not "news?"

So...getting back to Len's point...a question for all you libs...

What's the difference between "Hannity & Colmbs" and "Crossfire?"

One show has a lib and a con for hosts and they debate their political points of view on various topics. The other show has...um...well, a lib and a con....uh...they debate their political points of view...um...differently, I guess....

One is broadcast on FOX and the other is broadcast on CN...uh...nevermind....I understand it now.

Move along people, nothing to see here.

I knew and thought it was quite funny.

That is simply not the true. Granted, Fox represents conservative views, BUT it also represents liberal ones as well. I disagree with about 50% of what I see on their "talk shows", so that tells me half is liberal. To say it's "nothing but right-wing propaganda talk shows" is just grossly false and makes me wonder if you've ever even watched the station.

Does Crossfire act like Hannity in this clip? Because if so, there is no difference. That's so disgraceful.

Also, does CNN use a slogan such as "fair and balanced" or even remotely like that?

Have you ever even watched the show? You're basing everything on one clip, where Hannity is pissed b/c some nut job is making fun of the DEATHS within our military.

Let me spell it out... Some of us get mad when others make fun of our brave people dying. It makes us sick. We may say or do things we normally wouldn't.

No. Because CNN isn't.

"fair & balanced" is why for every Hannity there's a Colmes. For every O'Reilly there's a Gretta. For every Shep, there's a ... a... does anyone know what side Shep's on?

It does not say "totally moderate" or "straight down the middle" or "without opinion". It says "fair & balanced". Meaning, they give fair and equal time to both sides of the argument. Why don't you people get this?

cool_chick 06-06-2005 04:41 PM

That's a bunch of crap. Fox is so not "fair and balanced." Did you read Superman's posts?

And if he can't control himself, he needs to get another job. OMG, listen to yourself. You're excusing this kind of behavior. What the heck happened to this country?

M.D. Holloway 06-06-2005 04:57 PM

Fair and balanced? - why would a news show even have to state that. It would be like Moses putting a sign out in front of his practice saying "Accurate Diagnosis Made Here". WTF? He better make an accurate diagnosis and the news best be fair and balanced.

And while we are at it, I would really like to see less friendly chat during the local segment – news is serious stuff not a freak’n visit to the coffee pot…(more titties would be nice though).

Oh, yeah. Did you read mine in response to supe's? Supe says there's only right wing view points, which is clearly wrong.

Are you joking here? Seriously? I'm beginning to think lendaddy was on to something... "I think this may be your debating tactic, frustrate me with nonsense."

- Skip

rolls eyes again.

Aren't you guys grown men?

And that channel is clearly not fair and balanced.

shaking my head.

skipdup 06-06-2005 05:09 PM

I didn't edit fast enough on my last post...

But, are seriously saying there are no liberal view points on Fox news? It's all conservative?

I'm saying it's not fair and balanced. It should be fairly balanced. It has some liberal viewpoints, but not enough to be fair and balanced. I have a real problem with that slogan...I think they're lying by using it.

And Lube has a good point...

And IMO, I personally don't want any "viewpoints"...I just want the news.

"debating tactic"..."frustate me with nonense"...that kind of stuff. I personally don't feel phrases serve a useful purpose in a debate...rather IMO it's an attempt to attack the poster, which I feel isn't what grown men should do.... I guess I'm doing the same in return, though...I shall stop now.

I'm being serious about what I'm writing here....

M.D. Holloway 06-06-2005 05:23 PM

FARTTTTT...(sorry Cool, forgot my manners but sometimes you remind of a guy the way you think...thats a good thing BTW)

My eyes are about to roll out the back of my grape!

You've never seen the show. You've never watched the channel. You only read what a few peoplehere have said about it. And even though there are just as many people who argue the opposite, you've come to the rational conclusion that YOU are right.

OOOPS...damn...there goes one of my eyeballs rolling 'cross the floor.

rcecale 06-06-2005 05:51 PM

Okay...eyeballs are back in place. Whew! Thought I lost one!

Anyway, NO, Sean Hannity is far from "fair and balanced" he is a super-conservative from the word go. Alan Colmbs, on the other hand is a super-liberal. They are both extremists, but that has already been explained here.

Can't explain it any better than that. If you can't come to terms with it, well, I'm sorry for you. I thought you were more intelligent than that. Seriously!

When did I say I never watched the show? I said I normally don't watch the shows, doesn't mean I never had.

That was that other guy who said he never had, that he doesn't get it where he lives.

LMAO

rcecale 06-06-2005 05:54 PM

I quoted you word for word.

RANDY! Quit attacking that lady!

nostatic 06-06-2005 05:55 PM

is there any "news show" that isn't entertainment first? Gotta get the eyes people...and facts don't do that.

The masses are asses. Hmm...maybe that's why conservative talk radio is so popular.
