Overheard from two 15 year old's--911 talk

My friend at work drives a '96 993 and I drive an '88 911. We both drove our cars today and parked next to one another.

He was walking back from Starbucks and saw two (14 or 15 year old) boys looking at our cars. He heard one boy ask: "what types of Porsches are these?"

The other boy pointed at the 993 and said "that's a 944, the other one is a 928."

I really annoy a friend of mine when I call my wife's 912 a Volkswagen.

At least the kid used Porsche numbers. Didn't call them a 540i and a 325. Or a GTO.

I had one girl ask me if my 944 was a diesel, since she thought it was too loud. Then her father said "the 944 has a Subaru type engine." I had to gently say "No, it's gas," and "That's the 911, the 944 is inline", but I don't mind.

Then the guy at a tire dealer asked me if I had the Nissan in the parking lot. Needless to say, I didn't get tires from them.

I had a (coachcrafted) 928 convertible, which was variously identified as a 944 convertible and 'that looks like a Miata.'

In the small town I live, the 911 is probably the only Porsche in the county. Sitting in it waiting for my wife at the town market, a large beutician with no front teeth yelled, "What's that thing?" Egads!

That makes me really proud of my two teenagers! They both know the differences between each one, probably from playing "Porsche Unleashed" on Playstation - ha! Either way, they both know what they want when they're allowed to choose and are paying for their own insurance.....Jeff wants a 911 & Kristen wants a Boxster. We have always played the ID game when travelling to see who can ID the Porsches from the furthest distance.

One kid at the drive thru window in the Central Valley asked me why the steering wheel was on the left since they drive on the opposite side of the road in Europe (?)

You think that's bad:

Heather and I took the Fat Bastard out to dinner last night and while driving through the restaurant parking lot, I stopped to let a mother with two kids in tow across the lot. The little girl (maybe 3 yrs old), point with her free hand with great enthusiasm and amusement while exclaiming, "Look at the silly car mommy...look a silly car!"

Heather cracked up laughing in the passenger seat....and the mother avoided eye contact with us as she hustled a little more across the lot pulling on the little girl's arm...

OH HELL! I've gotten good comps from chicks before...from "cool" to "cute" and even a senior Trixie (in her day) liked my car! But the chicks these days! All they want is rice...and they start young! Fuchen little beotch....I should have ran her skinny arse over..and taken her toy too! Now Heather will have another name for my cars!

BUT! The good thing is Heather insisted that we take the Porsche out last night...we even took it for an aimless drive to get treats...on the way home I even had fun with a crotch rocket....

Silly car! HA! That little beotch was out of her mind!

My nearly 10 year old daughter even pronounces Porsche the correct way, with the -Shuh.

Joe - a friend of mine has 3 daughters and a 914...I was dropping him off at his house one day in the 911 when his oldest said "Nice beetle!"

He was mortified but I thought it was hilarious.

I was so proud that Max could tell the dif between a duck tail and a whale tail, between a 356 and a 911. But the lil guy still has some to learn. he was watching trailers for the Herbie movie and said "Dad, our Porsche kinda looks like Herbie. If we race it, can we get the same number on the side?" Ouch! oh well, nothings perfect...

At a gas station in north Idaho, an elderly gentleman was filling up his RV behind me. "Wot kahnd of a rig IS that, mister?" he inquired, in his thick back-woods accent. "It's a Porsche 911," I answered. "Wahl .... thass one mahty-big tail-pahp you got on that thing!" Took me a second to realize he was commenting on the size of the exhaust.
