I got to ride Space Mountain!!! Finally

If you didnt already know, I work at the happiest place on earth. The ride that has been in rehab for about 2 years, finally let me ride it. WOW!!! what a blast it is. Even though all the effects arent in yet, it was still worth the wait. Oh if you all were wondering, I got to ride because I work at the park, it is not open to the public yet until July 15. Supposedly they will soft open it on the 1st till the 15th.

I remember riding Space Mountain when it first opened - late 70s maybe? I was a little kid, and spent the whole day running from the exit to get back in line. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was an E ticket ride. What a blast that was. Now there are more people waiting in line for StarTours. What fun is sitting in a box on hydraulic rams?

Have they changed Space Mountain?

I've ridden both the one in Florida and California.

IIRC, Florida seats three to a car, one behind the other. California seats three to a car, side by side. I seem to remember the one in Florida being much better. The last time I rode the one in Cali was 1989, the last time I rode the one in Florida was 2001.

BTW, Pirates of the Carribean is much better in Cali!

Well it would be hard for me to judge which one is better, Florida or CA. From a good source I hear the one in Paris is the best. But this one, which is almost open to the public is so great. They have added a new soundtrack while you are zipping through the ride. I have to say they put a good deal of effort, into making it fun. I want to ride as much as I can before it actually opens and gets a 3 hour line. If any of you remeber how to space mountain was before , you will really like this one.

That was Adventure Through Inner Space.

I really miss that ride.. They would shrink you down and send you through an atom. Was easily the coolest ride at Disneyland.

I really miss the old Tommorowland as well. I think the Jules Verne inspired makeover doesnt really work. I liked the stoic blocky 60's look with all the gantrys and such..

What exactly have they done to Space mountain?

Last time I was there it was like FedEx all over the place and Dick Dale music. Kind of ruined the feel of the ride I think. I liked it when it was all dark and such.

The ride is the same, its just that there is new state of the art effects. And Dick Dale is no more with this ride. The new musical score is phenominal. The music actually makes the ride a lot nicer.

Thanks God! That totally ****ing ruined my childhood when I went back as an adult.

I rode it a fourth time one day just after they started back up from a fix. The lights were still 1/2 way on. It's like being in your favorite bar with the lights on - all the atmosphere is gone.

Remember when the Pirates of the Carribean chased the women around? I think that was a victim of DisneyPC back in the 80s.

I had dinner at the Blue Bayou twice before, food is so-so.

I never enjoyed Space Mountain and thought it was a lame RC. I remember waiting 2-3 hours to ride the darn thing as a kid. Star Tours (movie/simulator ride) is way more fun. Now my favorite attactions are in California Adventure park - the Bug's life flick and Soaring California.
