computer speakers

i'm a music fanatic. despite the nice home system i have, i spend FAR more time listening to music right here in front of my pc.

these are pretty nice (logitech Z-5500 5.1 surround sound):

my friends say they are too pricey....then they come over and i rattle the windows in my computer room. that usually justifies my investment.

j.j. cale is sounding really nice right now.

I have a set of Logitech Z-680 5.1 speakers (no longer listed but the same specks as your system with the same controller).
500w of power usually shuts the nay sayers up
If someone needed a cheep home theatre system for their TV then I would recommend the Logitech systems

Biggest issue I have for 5.1 and computers is where the h*ll do you put the rear speakers. Most of my computing is done in a living room/office and there is no way that I can hide them. Doesn't mean I don't want them.

I have my rear speakers stuck under the table on each side and it's quite an effective location for making them sound like their behind me.

I have some Jamo 2-ways and a 10" amplified sub...conventional PC speakers suck.

my rear speakers are mounted on the wall. the 'feet' on all the speakers are designed such that this can be done VERY easily.

That's what I did with my Z560's, I just have the 4 speaker THX Logitech's. So the same sub and everything as the 680's less the center channel and the fancier digital controller.
