Just a little thread zombification.

There's a new article in Nature: Doctors back circumcision : Nature News & Comment

In other news, my uncut son (age 6) has been known to ask, "Daddy, what's that bump on the end of your wee-wee?" when he ambushes me as I get out of the shower. So, yes, my wife won the argument.

I have been as long as I can remember-
interestingly the appendage will try to pull in and replicate the "protective" effect of the foreskin. unfortunately he grabs hairs in the process and pulls them causing uncomfortable moments.

Not if you are trimmed "high and tight" ... :)

"it was a lot less painful and if I remember correctly"

From an earlier post. How would you know this?

If your religion requires it -OK. I guess.

I think the Amish have the right perspective - no commitments about religion until you are old enough to make a knowledgeable, experienced decision.

How many of you would choose to do this a age 18?

I think it is wrong. My parents did not know any better, and neither did I with my son.

I think Moses nailed it in post #12

OK the short story:

I am Jewish. Circumcision is not an "option". It is a requirement.

My wife is Japanese. She has three younger brothers, none of whom are circumcised. Neither is her father.

She thinks it's barbaric and horrible for the child.

I think it's necessary, will reduce risk of various problems/complications in the future, and will keep my son from thinking he's a freak the first time he sees me sans pants.

Where do you stand? What have you done?

PS: Ultrasound show it's going to be a boy, in no uncertain terms.

PPS: If you are not in the USA, don't bother to vote or reply.

barbaric and horrible for the child.

I am my two sons are not. 25 and 17 no hygene issues at all. Locker room stares don't know for sure but they have never complained about it or asked me why it wasn't done. When you are "ready to go" the skin pulls back anyway.

Argh, this tread is back.

Ok, here goes... My name is Dick I've been cut almost all my life, I've been here there and everywhere (not really!) and life has been a pleasure.

I was chatting with a chick at a party. Rather she was chatting with me and she said a cut guy is better for the girl (more friction), where as an uncut guy is really just f ing himself with all that spare skin. Her words.

In my day, if someone looked at your uncircumcised dick, as a kid in the locker room, and made a comment, people would not have laughed about your penis, but about that the other kid must be gay. I guess things are different today.

I don't wear my pants with half of my underwear sticking out.
I don't end my posts with "just sayin".
I don't wear sunglasses or hats indoors.
I don't start my sentences with "So".

I was raised Jewish, but I was adoped and came pre-circumcised when the parents got me at 4 days old.

I am also non-religious. But, as you posted about seeing dad sans pants, we had our son circumcised. By the Jewish doctor who acts as the local moel, but not 8 days after. No ceremony, etc.

I'm cut, but only because it was considered standard procedure when I was born. My two sons are not cut. It is an outdated practice that makes no sense to me. Soap is all you need.

I've noticed that only American women really have a problem with non-cut. I'm not married to an American woman and she thought it was strange that I was cut and not Jewish.
