Go BSD -- I'm running OSX on the laptop, and it rules. Fast. Stable. Powerful. And I can run "make" from a bash terminal. All of the programs that I'm used to downloading and installing on the desktop with "tar xvfz umpty-scrunch.tgz; make config; make install" run just fine on the Mac. It's like a dream come true. My computers actually run, all the time. They do what I want them to do, with little or no hassle. It's pretty awesome.
The other day, one of my Windows friends was explaining to me, excitedly, how he had spent the weekend perfecting his recovery CD. Now, when Windows crashes and dies, forgets about his drivers, accidentally loses segments of drives, dumps the network, or whatever else it does, he can just put this CD in, and within 2 hours he's back up and running. I explained that I had forgotten what that like -- I spent some of the weekend using my computer for it's design purpose, and the rest of my time out having fun. Reboot? Crash? What are those things? He was pretty miffed. ![]()

How ironic:
It looks like plenty of companies have claim to the name "Vista". http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050727/ap_on_hi_te/microsoft_windows
