Anyone out there go fishing regularly?
Being in SF, there is not much locally for freshwater except for the stocked (sometimes) Lake Merced. I go out and fish the delta in a small boat with my brother sometimes and we do alright, mostly stripers up to 6lbs. I'm thinking of heading to feather river in oroville tomorrow, leave at about 7am and get to fishing at about 10.30 or 11.00. Anyone have any experience out thataway?

Do you have a boat? There are a bunch of lakes in the Valley, some cost, some don't. There is Comanche, Large mouth bass, catfish, trout (the trout have copeds, a parasite so I won't eat them) New Hogan, if fact I was there yesterday, $4 to get my boat in there, we caught stripped bass. Pardee, Lake Amador, New Melones(is a great fishing lake, huge and free, but best if you have a boat) Don Pedro, Lake Tullock and there are many more but I just haven't been to them. So you see there are a lot of fresh water lakes out her, just depends on how far you want to drive, what you are fishing for, how much you want to pay and whether or not you have a boat. I love Kokanee Salmon and to catch those you have to have a boat because they can be deep and you have to troll for them.
Hope all this helps

If you are in SF, why not drive out ot East Bay and go fishing at the Lafayette reservoir ? great quiet and scenic place to fish, my daughter caught a 4 1/2 lb Rainbow trout there a few years ago. You can fish from the floating docks they have around the lake, good luck,....Doug

I've never fished the Feather.
One stream I think is promising is the North Fork of the Yuba. About 2 hours drive from SF, fun in the Porsche. I've recce'd it once and fished it once, keep meaning to go back.

dude, i fished the feather....(in oroville)!!!!! i think i went last august.... there is one portion of the river, near a bridge. the river necks down and the water is thick with salmon. it isnt legal to fish there, cept for the steelhead. so if a salmon hooks on you have to release it. i fought a fish for 45 minutes there. 12 llb line, with my bass rod, medium action. i feared for my g-loomis., and switched to an ugly stick. i think you are early.
lakes i have fished, contra loma in antioch.. i nailed two huge bass off the beds.....amongst a bunch of swimmers. motoroil colored lizard. the swimmers freaked. i released the big girls, but i think the people saw me, and got them again.. we need to get together and go fishing! now that would be fun. i am currently canoe shopping. so when i get one, i can take a friend...
