Any Railfans on here?

Any other train buffs on here?
Right now I'm in the middle of building my outdoor G scale layout.
Wow!, and I thought P-cars where expensive.
Also have a N-guage layout indoors.

I'm a fan. I have some Lionel that I have collected, and some HO as well. I have moved 4 times in 7 years, so its all in boxes.

I would love to get into live steam....but expensive....wow.

Post some pics of your G layout when you get it installed.

*sigh*.....so many hobbys...so little time...

Oh man, I used to love this stuff. I had two big HO layouts when I was a teenager, but have boxed everything up since then. I still pick up a Model Railroader every once in awhile just for fun.

Pics of the outdoor G-scale layout are a must.

I started into G then realized it costs more than my 914 to do what I want. I'm sure I'll start up again as my kids are at a good age for it.

I have been collecting trains for 30 years and about 9 years ago sold off almost all of my LGB and Lionel and re-invested in more Porsche's. I had a pretty good collection but still collect HO. I have most of mine in boxes right now also but still go to train shows and take pictures all the time of 1:1.

Last winter I took Amtrack from Kentucky to California, well didnt quit make it to California, we ran into a snow storm in Reno, Nv. and the sister train coming from Sacramento derailed up on the mountain. At first they told us we were going to go on up the mountain and rescue the other passengers coming into Reno from the other direction. They decided againsts that and put us up in a Casino for the night and then bused us to Sacramento the next morning. I did get some cool pictures of some UP's in the snow with the lights on.

I take the train whenever I can. They have some really neat tours in West Virginia which is close to me but I haven't had time to do it since I have been back here.

Oh yeah! Stuff gets expensive! Easy to have a few grand
invested in track. Cars average about $50-$70 apiece. Locomotives are anywhere form $150 up to a few thousand for live steam. I know guys that probably have $20,000 invested in thier outdoor layouts.

I used to go out an take photos of prototypes but haven't lately. How many catfish photos can you have? You think this is an angry lot? Check out a RR BBS for a while. Those rivit counters argue over everything!!!

I'm not a railfan. I work for Electro-Motive, one of 2 locomotive builders in the US, in field service. Being around these lumps all day the last thing I want to do is follow them around in my spare time.
