"Blessing of the Cars" sometimes, L.A. is the coolest...
...even when it's in the 90s.
This was the 12th annual event where hotrods and customs show up to show off, along with at least 100 tattooed Bettie Page lookalikes and twice as many guys in t-shirts with slicked-back hair. They've got bands playing all day, and one of my favorites, El Vez (the Mexican Elvis) performed while I was there. Very cool vibe. Here are just a few examples of what was there.. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Working around a front window on Main St in Santa Monica can be worthy of a car show routinely.

Yes, the 'Rat Rod' culture was well represented.
But George Barris was there with the munster coach, a hearse (with suicide doors) and that dragster with a coffin body. Lots of vendors like So Cal Speed Shop... Some sparkly paint jobs, too... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Cool rods, but I am having difficulty believing that those were women in the photos...

Cool pics. Thanks for posting them.
I'm headed down to Louisville, Kentucky this Friday for the Street Rod Nationals. There will be over 10,000 of the nicest street rods in the country. Foose, Boyd, Barris and all the well knon hot rod/custom guys will be there. I went last year and it took all day just to get through the trade show, like a SEMA for street rods. Will post some pics when I get back for the street rod guys.
