Is sending a package to Canada from US a hassle?

Selling some stuff on Ebay and I only do US sales. However, One guy is in Canada and may want an engraver control unit.
What's involved for me to ship? Same as overseas? Any hidden extra cost?

I've shipped to Canada.

Very straightforward. No different than shipping within the U.S., it just costs a little bit more. You can take your package to UPS or USPS and the procedure is exactly the same as shipping domestically.

Don't send anything via UPS!!! They charge a $50+++ "handling" fee and overcharge. Send everything United States Postal Service....

I think I have always used USPS, but I don't remember...

Either way, I have never had any problems.

I'll likely take Paypal and ship USPS (maybe 2-3 day priority). Will USPS charge a handling charge that may come back to haunt me?

It can be, do all the paperwork, make sure it they pay the customs charges. I won't fight that hassle again.

I had to return some H4's to Canada for a replacement and sent it through USPS. I wrote down used auto parts (even though they were new) and didn't have to pay an arm and a leg. Apparently the customs charges are different on 'used' parts.

NAFTA you can ship Mexico, U.S and Canada straightforward. No different than shipping within the U.S.
to Canada or Mexico I recomend FedEx use the shipping fee calculator on the web site.

Its more of a PITA than shipping inside the US. USPS is the only way its even tolerable and even then its not trackable and there are still declaration forms to be filled out. I dont do it anymore unless the buyer has their own shipping account and handles everything.

Major PITA. I shipped a set of wheels to the great white north a while back, back & forth because a form came off a box during shipping, then a month after the were dropped off, fed-ex tried to to bill me for the import duties, they dropped off the wheels and the buyer never paid (at least that is what canada said). I told them if they dropped it off and they didn't collect the dues, how is it my fault. They agreed and told the canadian fed-ex to eat it or collect it themselves.
