Other great forums?

I started hanging around here last year, trying to pick up as much knowledge as possible before buying a 911. Other priorities have moved Porsche ownership down the list (wife going back to school, house renovations etc...) but this is still the forum I hang out in the most.

What impresses me the most about this group is the variety of expertise out there. I've gotten advice making my wedding band, rebuilding my VW transmission, "nail-dating" my old house, dealing with difficult job situations... the list goes on and on.

Anyway, I don't know if there's another BBS out there that even comes close to this one. Or is there?

A) What other forums do you folks participate in?

B) Is there a particular forum that you've been looking for but haven't been able to find?

I'll start:

A) Maui Green Biodiesel forum. Lots of good info & help for Biodiesel & Waste Vegetable Oil conversions. Lots of expertise and some very innovative thinkers.
http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=447609751

B) I've been trying to find a good forum for maintaining & renovating old homes, as this is where most of my "project time" seems to be going lately. I've tried the "This Old House" forums, but still get better & more complete info by posting questions here in OT.

A lot of the lefties here think we're unhinged... but if you want some great entertainment, check out www.anncoulter.com -> forum. I'm registered, posted a few times, but... they're a little out there. I love Ann, but the board isn't Ann. They all want to be like her, but they are crazy, for the most part.

Gun forum. The High Road. Lots of great info and discussions. Early S registry board. Packing.org (no not a gay site!) forum for concealed weapons holders.

The BMW forum: http://www.bimmerforums.com/main.php

A great forum for BMW guys since it has much more traffic than the Pelican BMW forums and the people there are pretty much like Pelicans except there is more of a younger audience.

For DIY home improvement folks the best ceramic tile forum is John Bridge. Very active and the regulars are knowledgeable and friendly.

I sometimes hit THR... but my favorite firearm related forum is

www.ar15.com

okay question. where is the BMW forum where the people know what they are talking about, not trying to offend you 86 911, but i visited that forum and i got about as much advice as i did from the pelican side, i just want a BMW forum that will answer my questions and listen to me, and hold me when i cry, and sometimes just . . . .

uhh ohh, was i thinking aloud?

I see what you mean operationcougar. Pelican is probably the best forum I know, but if you aren't getting responses from the BMW forum of Pelican, you can go to Bimmer fourms. At least that is what I had to do with questions for our BMW 740i.

The General Discussion board has the most activity and a lot of topics not on guns.

I rather enjoy the banter that goes on this forum http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=739

It is a custom kuhkri maker's forum that has taken a life of its own with some pretty interesting folks on there.

There are a lot of really knowledgeable people on bimmerforums, but it's such a huge user group that there are A LOT of idiots as well. The best forum by far is the track/autox board. Many of those people have spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a lot cars and are good at answering both general car/driving questions or model-specific questions. The individual car boards can be hit or miss since a lot of posters are more concerned with cosmetic mods rather than car maintenance. It generally isn't too bad to wade through to find what you need.
