I just lost a good friend...
15 wonderful years with Zeus. Went to the vet to drop him off for boarding and annual physical. They discover a tumor in his stomach which explains his rapid weight loss and lack of appetite...
I will miss him dearly. ![]()

Very sorry to hear. I just got finshed posting a picture of my best bud Chance in the "name your antidepressant" thread. I honestly don't know what I'd do if I lost him. Sounds corny but it's true.

So sorry to hear this; he is a beauty. I'll bet you gave him a good life though, so try to feel good about that.

Alf, knowing that others have experienced the same pain helps only a little. But, it's all we can offer. I wish we could offer more, make the hurt go away...

Our critters become a part of the family. Mine was found wandering on the streets and I adopted it. At least its life is a good one now.
Sorry for your loss... JoeA

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... |

I am sorry for your loss and can only imagine how wrenching it must be.
My GF and I have two border collies. One is 11 1/2 and refuses to slow down, but we know the day will come. I can't even entertain the thought. ![]()

It's tough being a dog lover. I've buried way too many good buddies over the years, The last one was Scout, my Golden Retriever, who died last summer on a backpacking trip on Tonga Ridge. We now have Katie, one of his nieces. She is shaping up to be every bit the dog Scout was. They are all irreplacable, but the plan is to outlive several more. Grieve your old pal for awhile; remember him forever; and do another dog a big favor and give them a good home too. Remember - "all dogs go to heaven". I have to believe we will catch up with our buds on the other side. Ol' Zeus will be there waiting for you.
