				Got laid off today

I knew work was going to be slowing down a bit until the fall clean ups started but since the sudden hike in gas prices my boss decided he wasn't going to be able to keep me on any longer. It's not like this job was my career but it still sucks not having any job to go to on Monday (not this monday). Anyway, maybe this was good because it will get me out looking for perhaps a better job. Or maybe it's a sign that I should go down to NO and volunteer. Don't know what I will do yet.

There's always carpentry if you like that kind of work. I would d to have started that at an early age...

			Best of luck.

Sorry to hear this. Actually, the NO idea isn't bad. They will have to rebuild.

I think I'll look into finding any volunteer groups in CT that are going down. I do have class one day a week but if I miss a few for helping in NO I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

One door closes, and another opens. Find something that you like to do and move ahead... I would be heading to NO if I did not have things that I just cannot get out of right now.

Unemployment notched down just this week (drowned out by hurricane coverage) so the job market must be pretty strong in some parts of the country -- hopefully yours...

Mike - NO is a golden opportunity to study a major break in society and culture, and then its rebuilding process. Plus, you don't have to leave the U.S. to do this study (sadly ironic, huh?) Man, if I were back in school and not...well..."attached," I'd jump at the opportunity. |
