I guess they are going up

Here is a painting by Claude Venard 18 x 20 @ that just sold at Julias for $3700....http://julia.hanovercomputer.com/americana/samo05/Catalog/images/27735.jpg

And here is a larger Venard 36 x 48 that I bought in 2002 for $2100....

Yeah, obviously the guy on the right is Fernando Alonso but I don't understand the big, giant cigarette butts sticking out of Kimi Raikkonen in the center. I didn't think he smoked.

LOL!

I'm not into that style of art, but the painting did catch my eye. I like it, tabs.

Tabdula, what can you tell us about the collectibility of Venard? I like the post-cubist style.

Venard was about 90 when he died in 2001...he is an Abstract Expressionist...

I know that his prices peaked in 1990 and fell off until he passed away...now they are on the rise again...the painting I have is probably worth 8K to 10K...

As for appreciation...the painting at Julias was estimated to be 800 to 1200 and it went for $3700....what does that tell U.....

Whats interesting is that around 1960 Venard had some kind of Gallery showing in LA...and it became de rigor with the Hollywood set to own one of his paintings...
