Most providers will electronically transfer your saved numbers from one phone to the next. (though having your own back-up on PC is smart).

No kidding. My Startac dropped in the lake at least 3x. My V-60 went thru the washing machine (phone on) and the drier.
.... it was a bit wonky for a while, but i'm still using it today. (and it's very clean

Si. RAZR phone. I destroyed my v180 (one below yours) and they gave me this thing. It likes to "think" (windows hourglass..ugh) which is terrible if you're the impatient sort like myself.

Not talking about that, talking about entering phone and info into the cell after its been purchased. The newer phones have a PC program that will allow you to plug it into the PC and maintain all the stuff inside on the computer.

Just that its way easier to use a computer keyboard than the miniture one on the cell phones to enter everything.

I love my smartphone. I have an imported version, but it's essentially the same thing as the Cingular Audiovox SMT5600.

Reception is great, UI is great (runs Windows), easy to find everything, syncs with Outlook or an Exchange server for mail/contacts/tasks, plays music and movies, have a 1GB card in mine, has a camera, runs IE and will display almost any site, MSN messenger, solitaire , etc. etc.

I can do everything on it that a blackberry can do too, with the exception of having a keyboard, though I could get a bluetooth one for this phone if I wanted to, though that's not as convienient as a blackberry.

Sold.

I'm getting that phone.

Thanks everyone so very much.

Although I do need to check the analog feature, I want that.

CC,

GSM is nice, especially if you travel overseas a lot, but loads of the country are still analog. Nice to have for the non-populated areas to stay in touch. Well worth having.

Grrr?

How could you say Grrr?

You need to have patience . .. give it some time . . . wait for all the facts to come in.

Or, realize that you do has an issue, and spend a few hundred bucks on a repeater

STFU!!!!! LOL

You don't know how many people tell me they can never reach me. I guess I was just frustrated. It's my sole source of communication (I have my landline, but I don't use that, I have a 10 a month bill for DSL).

It seems to be getting calls now (from my landline, I'll just have to be PATIENT maybe it had to do with transferring to a SIM (old phone didn't have one).

But thanks for the antenna link, I'm keeping that in case it does become necessary.

BTW, for some reason, the worst reception ever is right here in Chicago. When I travel, no problem, cities, suburbs, out in the boonies (within reason), but Chicago has the worst reception for some reason. Friends agree. Anyone else notice that when you come to this city?

You may want to check for voice, from the land-line. (not just that it's ringing).

if you are in a poor signal area, you must be black . .er, oh wait, thats jyl's line. Anyway, the signal is split. Theres the BCCH . . ah, just check for voice.

Three ways;

1) Manually. It sucks.

2) Depending on what phone you were using before, any cell phone shop should be able to transfer the phone #'s from your old phone to the new one.

3) The BEST way. Get the PhoneTools program. You can type in your phone #'s (and addresses) and download the files to your phone. You can also use PhoneTools to make your own Mp3 ringtones and upload/download photos/videos. If your old phone is a Moto, you might be able to use PhoneTools to suck all the info out of your old phone.

What is your old phone?

And thanks so much Moses.

I think you need to buy it. Also a USB to Moto cord to connect to your PC. If your PC has bluetooth, I suppose that would work.
