Question If you had $25K what Porsche? Boxster Vs 911 cab.

So at the Ventura car show I sat in a Boxster and talked with an owner who had high praise for the car.
Girlfriend had a little trouble differentiating between the Boxster and the 911 cabs. I explained how one had the engine in the middle and the other had a rear engine, she was more interested in color combo's

Anyway you could pick up either for around $25,000. If you were so inclined, which would you buy and why?

TIA

Scott

Neither. You can get a nice driver 356 for that price, and it will only go up in value.

911.

Boxsters are nice rides, I almost considered one for price alone. But I knew I would always wonder and long for the classic.

911 all the way!

Which one is more exciting to drive. That's the key!

The 986 would be my choice.

I don't like the way the folded up covertable top sits on pre-996 911's. (I doubt you can get a 996 cabrio for $25k) Plus the Boxster already has some roll-over protection, and due to it's mid-engine design is typically a better handling car.

I presume that would be the Boxster (haven't driven either)
People I have talked to who have owned both say the Boxster is more fun to drive.

Of course a Boxster will likely go down in value and a 911 cab may go up... but I don't look at sports-cars as an investment.

When I pointed out a '72 911T 2.4 to my girlfriend and told her "I really want one of these" she looked at me like I was from another planet.

She really liked the 356's... however the nice ones were more in the $30-60K.

Boxter.

Never liked the look of the 911 cab. Come to think of it very few car manufacturers have succeeded in building a nice cab based on a coupe model IMHO.

The roadster concept is another thing - like the Boxter - their is a natural harmony in the lines.

Further more making a cab out of a Porsche, IMO, kind of transforms the sport car to a cruising vessel.

Just one mans opinion..

Having owned both...Boxster for the top off experience...911 coupe for the cool and classic experience.

Bot look for a 2001 or new "S"...world of difference on power.

911 Carrera cab. For less than $25K, I would think.

Can be maintained DIY. Parts easier and cheaper to buy. Won't depreciate nearly as much. More upgrade and project options. No one will mistake you for a hairdresser.

911s need a roof and they look like property developers cars as a cab.

That said, the 996 cab is quicker than a Box S in any almost situation.
