Did anyone stay up to watch the whole game last night?

I gave up at 12:30 when the score was still 5-5 and they were headed into the 13th...

Watched it till the bitter end. When they put Astacio in I knew the game was over. That guy has not been good all year, I have no idea why Garner kept him on the playoff roster. At least Wandy Rodriguez was able to give them a couple innings without giving up a run in game 1. Hate to say it, but the Stros needed to sweep in Houston to have a chance. I won't be surprised if it ends tonight with a sweep. Brandon Backe is a good kid but he usually will give up 4-5 runs in his outings.

Looking to next year...I assume Clemens will retire (for good this time). Bagwell might also give it up. Biggio I can see coming back. So, that opens up a decent amount of cash for the Stros to get another ace pitcher if you add up Bagwell + Clemens. Your starting roster would be:

1b: Lamb (or Berkman)
2b: Biggio (or Burke if Biggio retires)
SS: Everett
3b: Ensberg
C: Ausmus
LF: Berkman (or Lamb)
CF: Tavarez
RF: Lane

So I think the Stros can upgrade their pitching and keep essentially the same offense together. I guess you could say that Lamb might not quite be an every day starter yet and get someone in free agency, but I would rather see a big name arm come to keep the rotation with 3 great starters. Stros will be in the playoffs again next year...and this time withs some World Series experience under their belts.

Astros are done. I really would have liked to see them win but it's pretty sweet that in the last 2 WS a team that hasn't won a world championship in 80+ years both win.

F the Yankees and Boston. (oh, and F the cubs too)

The sox will be intersting next year. Obviously Pauly is due for a HUGE payday. People give Reinsdorf crap, but he puts the money on the table when he needs to.

I'm sure you Houston fans are bummed, but if the Sox pull this off... its going to be a huge monkey off the back of a team thats had a black cloud over it for 85 years.

Without Clements, the Astros were done on the first day.

But hey, I'm still happy they won the National League. They will be back!

This has been a pretty good series for those who have watched it - too bad it is getting such bad press.
