What is your opinion on this
A Christian men's magazing did an article on a new basic cable network. It's supposed to be MTV style programming for the "alternitive lifestyle". According to the article the network is designed to entice others onto said lifestyle.
http://www.logoonline.com/ Charter Sponsors are Miller Beer, Motorolla and Subaru. Looks like I won't be buying that WRX STi I've been looking at. |

None of the gay people I know even watch TV, what's up with that? |
Just saw where Walgreens donated something like $100,000 to a gay cause. Guess I can buy my meds and toothpaste elsewhere..

oh for crying out loud.
Who in the hell is gonna be "enticed" what a load of Christian BS pure and simple. |

That is pure INTOLERANCE |

Its going to take more than a website and a TV channel to entice me into "the lifestyle". C'mon David, do you really think its a lifestyle choice? By your same reasoning maybe we should ban Telemundo and Univision so we're not enticed into the Latino lifestyle.
Heres the Logo charter statement: For the first time ever, Gay America has a home on television where we can go to see ourselves. On Logo you will see more than 200 lesbian and gay films, an ongoing documentary series, newscasts tailored for a gay and lesbian audience and quality original shows and specials. Programming that reflects our lives. Programming that tells our stories. Yeah, they sound really aggressive in recruiting all the good little Christian boys and girls. Please. Hey David, have you ever spent any time in a foriegn country, like say a few weeks in Germany? After about that 2nd week, aren't you just a little bit sick of the language and the food and the strange TV? Wouldn't you just love to see some Nascar and some Fear Factor, something American? Or imagine shopping with your wife nonstop for an entire month, looking at 100s of shoes, commenting on dresses, going from sale to sale to sale to sale, surrounded by crazy manic women for days on end. Wouldn't you like to have a place to go where you can drink beer in front of the football game with your buds without your wife butting in? I've spent a lot of time away from my home and away from "my people" and theres no better feeling than to see and be with people like me. Good for Logo, the gay community has earned the right to be seen and they deserve a TV channel and more. {end rant} |
It is a choice. A wrong choice.
edit: Latinos don't change back to something else |

My questions are: a) how is this cable network supposed to 'entice' one to be gay? b) why would be be OK to try to 'entice' someone to be xtian, but not to entice them to be gay? If the last 2000 years are any indication, I think the world would have been better off if the gays had been the dominate socio-political force instead of the xtians. The only downside I could see would be the Catholic church scandal of male priests being caught with girls  |

That's a loaded PC statement. He's tolerating them, he's just choosing to take his business elsewhere for his own reasons, which is his right. You are confusing the concepts of TOLERANCE and ACCEPTANCE. |
i cant stand it. i DO have an opinion! and i am happy to report that matt and thom see it my way. david, WTF difference does it make in your life? wrong choice? doesnt make sense, they dont give a rat's ass about your choice, give them the same respect. honestly, i get more Christians, Mormon, JH's...all spewing their ideas, and trying to convert me more than anyone from the "rainbow coalition". and i live in gay capital! maybe my geographic location makes me more open minded, but i just done get it. live and let live buddy.
i wonder how much help someone would get if they posted a que in the tech section under the name "rainbow911" or ...well you know? |

How many guys did you date before you decided that being gay just wasn't your deal? Because, if its a choice, then obviously you must feel equally attracted to both men and women, but decided to choose women for faith/family/community reasons. Believe me, I understand, I chose to be straight too! |
Slak, everyone has the right to choose where they spend their money. It's not intolerance, it's called a free society. Wal-mart can donate money to whomever they like, and customers have the right to not buy products at Wal-mart for whatever reason, including who they donate money to.
Your argument is like when actors/singers, etc get upset because groups threaten to not buy their records, watch their movies, etc because of what they say or do (the Dixie Chicks phenomenon). There's nothing intolerant about it. Everyone has the freedom to do what they choose, but that does not mean there may not be consequences to that action. |
David, you're way out of bounds on this one, even for a conservative christian. It's attitudes like the one you express here that do immeasurable harm to reasonable conservatives everywhere.

Very well said, MichiganMat

Mabye David, like myself, is sick and tired of the gay lifestyle constantly shoved in our faces day after day. While i'm all for a person being free to live thier life however they want, dont stick my nose in it.

Yes he does have the right to take his $ anywhere he wants to. Maybe it is not intolerance. But I still think it is petty. I should have said that it is petty. Becides, I would not be surprised to find out that that store donated money to some Christian group AND some gay group on the same day. anyways, I say good for the gay people. They have their own channel now. I would bet everything I own to say that gay people will still watch the same shows that me and you watch. This channel will not be around for long I bet. |
rick, good point. but isnt this based on hate and prejudice? the dixie chicks killed their career by stating an opinion on war. they didnt say, "we hate black people" or "we hate people that believe in a god". opinions are good, opinions on a group of society based on religion, sexual preference, race...well you know the drill.
