I hate motorcycles. They've taken over my life. I don't even look at my cars anymore. It's gotten especially bad since I started taking the Ducati to the track. It's a slippery slope indeed.
The latest addition to my garage is this '66 Honda CL 160. It's the bike that everyone in the Pacific Northwest is racing in the vintage class. Close to 20 of them at a race, and they've earned their own class (Formula 160). It's got a lot of bark, very little bite. I'll be racing it by next season: ![]()

The '80's Hondas are easy to work on, lots of them around, so lots of parts, and are fun to ride. I commute to the Valley from the South Bay, so I get to ride almost every day when in town. A run to Vegas twice a month so each of the bikes gets a workout. As I get older, and it gets cooler (never really that cold here) the faired bikes take over. The Gold Wing makes a 600 mile run to Vegas and back in a day easy. The turbos are amazing for an early '80's bike. Hondas' first FI bike, the rush of power when the turbo pulls is awesome. Then you realize you are on a 500cc machine. Even as heavy as it is, the 650 Turbo will lift the front wheel on it's own. The BMW's are from a different planet, it's really a mindset change to ride them. The 'flying brick' mantra still sticks. They were designed for an all around euro bike, to include the autobahn. It revs higher on the road than I am used to, but is in the powerband at that RPM. Like I said, it is a disease.

My first bike was a 81 CB750F... only took me 3 months to total that one. The CX Turbos were really amazing back in the day... I loved the power pulse from the horiz v-twin configuration. Very nice. And you have 2!
I only have 5 currently. I've always told myself that someday I'd have a bike for every occasion, which I pretty much have now. Just missing a lightweight enduro. I'd love to have more, but the ones I do have don't get enough time on them as it is, and, I'm out of garage space. Would love to restore an old hottie italian someday... maybe when I'm retired. My collection: 2005 Harley Davidson Road King Custom 2004 BMW R1150GS Adventure 2002 Ducati 998 2002 Aprilia RS250 1999 Yamaha TZ250
