Back when I consulted for Microsoft (1983-87), Gates had come close to permanently losing his license several times, driving a 930. He would get out on the road and his mind would drift, and he'd go faster and faster... About '85 or so, he bought a Mercedes diesel sedan, which he hoped would help him drive more slowly... it didn't work. He's still be doing 10-20 over the speed limit on freeways. If I recall correctly, he hired a driver for a few years after that so that the "points" would expire from his driving record.
Nobody knew where Gates' mind went, but I watched him drift off in the middle of a presentation on a $9 million program. He had a 'tic' that was a dead giveaway that he'd mentally departed. Looked like he was running code in his head. Interesting guy.

I'm sure he's a great guy, but from what you described above, he's hardly the person I'd want behind the wheel of 959.

I read an article a while back that compared the 993TT (S?) to the 959. The verdict was that they were very equal in many ways....sometimes the TT edging ahead. That's what a few years of evolution will get ya.

Canepas 959s make 600hp with full boost online @ 1500 rpm. He says that between his McLaren F1 and one of the 959s, he'll choose the 959 any day of the week.
