My short spiel on P/C language - once someone coined the term "politically correct" the affect of that kind of language has been mininal. Smart people realize this stuff is just noise. And who cares what dumb people think? If they don'tsuccomb to PC, they'll succomb to the ploys of some other method of brainwashing. Being PC is in the same category as being proud of not being PC. Both utterly retarded in every sense of the word.

There is a lady on our project that has a burr under her saddle blanket. For me, at least. Reading glasses on the end of her nose. Anyway, I mentioned the need for a manpower assessment (an estimate of what skills were going to be called for in upcoming months) and she called me on that language. It was one of those instances where I let it go, and then wished I had snapped back. I've overseen the changing of many statutes to adopt "gender neutral" terms, and I'm all about workplace diversity and actively recruiting women and minorities to work in the construction industry, so her remarks were poorly targeted, I think. Plus, some construction terms that have the word "man" in them are quite clumbsy when you try to de-gender them. I don't regret not saying "personpower planning."

I generally don't care, but Supe's post reminds me how pissed off I get when Lord and Father are inclusivified down to "God". I like "Lord" - it shows some freakin' respect.
