Just got cut off at work!!! No more Pelican.

I'm not really surprised since I'm sure I go to Pelican way more than I should. Went to see what's up on Pelican this morning and I got the "black page of death" as we call it. Violation of company policy and all that jazz.

Oh well, with all the extra time I did just about finish that report I've been trying to finish for too long.

Wayne, how about some mirror sites that change every few weeks?

I used to work with a bunch of Geeks and an over ambitious Web-Sense server. We were allowed outside access on port 5190 for AOL instant messenger. A few of the guys with speedy access set up a proxy service on their home PC's that used port 5190.

If they had opened up the proxy/Web nanny a bit we'd have probably not bothered, but since they gave us no choice we ended up with a route to anything on the net. Plenty of porn got pulled down on that fast connection.

I'm expecting to get cut off at work any day...of course I have been expecting that day for several months.

Still, I should get busy soon...

I guess it beats being cut out of work.

Suddenly you have LOTS of time to surf Pelican.

Make nice with the IT guys. Better yet, find a higher up with a 911 and introduce him to the site.

My boss' boss is my racing buddy so I'm not concerned with getting busted for spending time on non-work activities. What bums me out the most is when I have to be at work on weekends, not getting paid, waiting for something I have to handle and not being able to chill out and surf Pelican.

I'll look into these ways around it, but it was kind of refreshing having the extra time today to catch up on some stuff that's been lingering.

Quick, fellas, PM him Pelican related material. He's in a state of Delirium due to withdrawal.

It can be a LOT worse, trust me...I caught (via log reports) one of my former employees surfing gay porn sites a few years back. We're not talking just once or twice, either.

That was a highly unpleasant situation....
