Jordi,

Thank you so much for your kind offer. Other obligations are going to keep us home this weekend, unfortunately.

I should be in early afternoon on Friday. If weather is good and I'm make it through the week with some energy left I'll be on the bike. Otherwise I'll bring the 911. Heading back to LA saturday morning, so I'll be shoving off from Starbucks.

VINMAN 03-21-2006 03:40 AM

Will be in at 2: 45 on Fri. Whats the best way from the airport to hotel (orleans) without gettin takin for a ride(literally)?
I know NYC cabbies love to give the grand tour so it triples the fare.

jriera 03-21-2006 04:05 AM

Vinny, let me know your flight number and I can try to pick you up.

Taxis in Las Vegas are kind of OK, another way will be to take one of the shuttles.

Joeaksa 03-21-2006 04:12 AM

Jordi,

Is the elevated tram in service now?

Joe A

cool_chick 03-21-2006 04:14 AM

jriera, would you consider getting me too (11 am arrival time)?

Which day? If its Friday may be able to help but not on Thursday. Not arriving until late Thur or so.

Joe

cool_chick 03-21-2006 04:43 AM

Friday at 11 am.

Are we going to be going anywhere where jeans are not allowed? How should I pack for the evening?

Joeaksa 03-21-2006 04:47 AM

This is Vegas. Unless you are going to a fancy show, jeans can go everywhere...

Bring beer, show up nude. No one will complain... :)

(flak vest on)

jriera 03-21-2006 04:58 AM

Joe, the tram is working fine (finally!!)

cool_chick, need to double check my calendar but my guess is yes I can pick you up. Let me know your flight number.

As Joe says dress code is not inforced almost anywhere, also the weather is going to be nice this weekend (low 80's) .... BUT if you plan to go 'clubbing' (and there is a 'few' places to do so) jeans will not be the 'proper attire'

lendaddy 03-21-2006 05:32 AM

Joe, why don't you swing by Michigan in the G5 and pick my dumb ass up? Shauns $500 should cover the extra Jet Fuel:)

Joeaksa 03-21-2006 05:44 AM

Len,

Just filled it up on the flight over to London. It only cost $11,920 to fill the plane up on this one leg...

G9's check would be a drop in the bucket. Would love to fly around the country and pick everyone up. Would be a blast on the flight to Vegas...

Ah, pocket change.....can you really put a price on the memories? :D

lendaddy 03-21-2006 05:50 AM

Just slow down and fly low I'll jump on the gear.:)

Leland Pate 03-21-2006 10:50 AM

I feel so helpless.
we got about a foot of snow the other day. The roads in town are almost clear now but the passes between GF/Helena and Butte, Idaho border are still really bad. Plus, Idaho Falls is supposed to get more snow tomorrow.

Terrific.

I ****ing hate this place.

Look at it as training for Germany. They get a lot of snow there but its not as cold. Get here however you can, we will keep a good meal and stout drink ready and waiting for you!

singpilot 03-22-2006 08:35 AM

OK, landed from Foigin Joisey late last night. Am in LaLaLand this AM. Will ride out Thursday (probably) and hang, but have to get back to LA on Friday Nite. Will probably be on a bike with a fairing (is cold at the tops of the passes). Todd, you riding out?

nostatic 03-22-2006 10:59 AM

Not sure if I'm riding or taking the 911. My plan is to leave LA around 9am or so on Friday. Then I'm riding back to LA, probably leaving from the Starbucks gathering. If the weather looks good and I'm well rested, I'll ride. If not, I'll take the 911. No fairing on my bike, so conditions need to cooperate for me to want to do 600 miles in 2 days :p

singpilot 03-22-2006 11:38 AM

Todd and gang. I went out to LAS and back same day last week on the Beemer, and they are repaving I-15 just east of Barstow and before Yermo, for about 10 miles. Is one lane eastbound, and stop and go during the rush hours. I leave LA usually at 6am, and miss all of the rush because the road crew starts at 8-ish. Going on the bike allows you to pass the stopped cars, but would still be a good idea to miss the 'bad time'. Todd; can you leave thurs afternoon? I'd delay, and even take a sportbike (in sympathy) if you want to go together. Can get cheap ($25.) rooms in Jean for the one extra night.....

nostatic 03-22-2006 12:02 PM

i have to drop my son off at school friday am, so I can't leave on thursday. I figure that it shouldn't be bad late morning, but who knows.

jriera 03-22-2006 12:41 PM

As Mike said, if any of you plan to drive on I-15 from LA watch out for the construction after Barstow, last time took me over 1 hour to do 1 mile at midnight. Not prety, plan accordingly.

12own911 03-22-2006 12:47 PM

I drove there a month ago... does this mean that the construction started in the last month? Bummer... but I am still driving my Vue...

jriera 03-22-2006 01:00 PM

Construction has been there for a while (a long while, at least since July) ... unless they just work at night or when they know I'm going to be driving thru ... :(

12own911 03-22-2006 01:04 PM

I do not know... I left at 10 am on Friday and 6:30 am on Sunday... and never saw anyone with construction...

KevinG 03-22-2006 01:49 PM

For those with the desire to avoid traffic on the 15, there is a back way through 29 Palms, Amboy and Kelso that is both less traveled and pretty picturesque. I used to go that way every trip to Vegas when I lived in the San Diego area.

VINMAN 03-23-2006 03:36 AM

Some bad news,( for me at least). I spent last night in the ER with my dad. He's been in and out of the hospital the past few months with heart trouble. He's ok now, but they want to hold him for a few days. Doctor wanted to put a stent in one of his renal arteries, but has been holding off. Hes 79 had 2 strokes. Now looks like it has to be done.
So theres a chance i'm gonna have to scratch this weekend:mad: I'm waiting to hear from his doc this morning. I cant leave town and dump it on my Sis and mother.

I will update you guys later on.

Vinny

singpilot 03-23-2006 07:02 AM

Vinman, same same. Hope all is well.

My morning is going about the same. Looks like I won't make it up either. GF had a bad night, I was up all night, and departure time now is O-Dark-Thirty on Saturday morning from LA. Unless that changes, I'll not be making it.

Keep us all posted on how everything is going up there, and remember....

WUSS! Oh dark thirty is normal for us! I just spend 28 hours airlining back from the middle of Africa to make this...

Will take lots of photos and enjoy a whiskey for you. Brought back a 12 year old bottle of Balvinie that I was going to share with you... guess I will have to try to save a sip for later!

Vinman, Hope your Father gets better. Make it if you can otherwise let us know! Will be holding the thought for him!

Joe, don't forget to drop that gear as you fly over west Michigan, I'm fat but I'm a surprisingly good jumper:)

12own911 03-23-2006 08:40 AM

Did anyone talk to Wayne about a banner or someother way to identify Pelican members in Vegas? Let me know as I can stop by PP on the way home today and bring it to Vegas with me...

Joe
