Last day to order shirts...

Leland Pate 02-28-2006 06:37 PM

I would Joe, but the 993 doesn't have a class III hitch!

12own911 03-01-2006 02:27 PM

What to do... Pelican Open House is scheduled for March 25 (Saturday)... I really want to attend the Open House... Can we do both?

What? Wayne, did you schedule the open house in CA on that day?

12own911 03-01-2006 02:33 PM

Wayne had no choice. Brian is flying out Sunday morning... This was the only day available.

cool_chick 03-01-2006 03:23 PM

Damnit Wayne, I wanted to meet you!

red-beard 03-01-2006 03:27 PM

Is there some track time set up? A meet Friday or Saturday? A meal at Tabs place?

Leland Pate 03-01-2006 06:19 PM

I never liked Wayne anyway.

:P

Ok, the wife and I are definately going. I arrive via 993 on Thurday and am staying at the Palace Station Hotel (cheapest three star I could find) my wife flies in from Sacramento that evening.

Ok, people we're committed. Is there an itinerary of events floating around?

I wish we could get Wayne to post a sticky in the main tech forum to get more exposure.

Agree and this just cut the number of people from Cali by a large number. Not the best decision IMHO as many of us would have liked to come to the Pelican party and see the 917 stuff as well.

It kinda screws everyone. Wonder if anyone told Redman that we had plans that weekend? Bring him to Vegas. I would pay one night for a room for him!

Oh well, not like there's a shortage of entertainment.

Either way, for some of us the plans are concrete. I intend on making the most of it.

It's Vegas!

OK, I have put some kind of 'agenda' for the event, just to try to 'organize' things and start a civilized discussion on what to do:

Saturday at 10 AM greet and meet at some Starbucks near the Strip, then nice drive up to Mount Charleston for lunch. Free afternoon. Meet for dinner somewhere off-Strip.

Sunday morning caravan to either Lake Mead or Lake Las Vegas for photo ops

This weekend I'm going to the races to the Pahrump track, I will ask them for conditions, $$'s, requirements, etc, to get the track for half a day or so. Is a long shot but you never know.

Other ideas are always welcome.

PS. If anybody is flying into Las Vegas, please let me know if you need my 'taxi' service

slakjaw 03-02-2006 07:21 PM

Taxi service????:D

lendaddy 03-02-2006 07:29 PM

Cheapest ticket I've found (shockingly) is $550. And although I like you guys, I don't like you several grand:) So the big daddy is looking much less likely than a montha ago:(

jriera 03-02-2006 07:32 PM

Yes you know .. a ride from the airport to the hotel in something like this

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141360323.jpg

and you cannot beat the price!! Just don't bring too much lugage!

Leland Pate 03-02-2006 08:22 PM

Sweet jesus, Jordi. That's one hell of a taxi.

I will get into town on Thursday afternoon (weather permitting).
I pick up the wife at the airport (which I have no idea how to find) that evening. Friday morning meet sounds great and I'm relieved to see an itinerary come together. Could you post the address of the starbucks so those that are driving can MapQuest it?

I'm looking forward to this. This event will be the first PP event I have actually been able to attend in the five + years I've spent on this board.

Superman, I hope you can make it too!

Who's driving the P-cars???

jriera 03-03-2006 05:42 AM

Leland, send me an email to jriera@cox.net

Wow...OK...that swings me...I'm coming - current Porsche or not....are you really offering?! I'm planning to arrive Thursday and would really appreciate being able to avoid the usual taxi rip-offs, especially with the obvious 'I'm not from around here' accent...

So are people meeting on Thursday night too?

Still haven't managed to sort out my DC driving license yet - if there's any racing planned does anyone know if a UK license would work (if I promise to drive on the right)?

ness 03-03-2006 12:45 PM

OK - I meant Friday night... (it's been a long week...)

M.D. Holloway 03-03-2006 12:55 PM

The special pass-phrase that allows you access is:

"LubeMaster Sent Me - I am Broken, and I am Poor but I am Here"

That phrase will work 7 out of 10 times in Vegas but only 4 out of every 20 times anyplace else but Landover MD where it seems to work 37 times out of 50 (for some strange reason).

Yes, we will be meeting Friday night. Where, who knows yet. But I'm sure a place will be picked the closer we get to the date......

Mike H., are you going?

jriera 03-07-2006 04:54 AM

ness, let me know your arrival time and I can pick you up at the airport.

All, did not manage to go to the races this weekend so I have not been able to find out much about the cost of the track, if anyone is interested:
Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch (http://www.springmountainmotorsports.com/) 800-391-6891
Part of the track seems to be available for those dates.

I have not had any feedback on the proposed agenda. I will keep working on. More details to follow soon.

Leland Pate 03-07-2006 07:58 PM

Jordi,
My criteria, for the trip itinerary for the UPM are as follows:

1. Pelican/Porsche nuts gather

2. Beer and plenty of cars to look at.

3. A nice drive or two somewhere out of town and a pot of money to bribe the highway partol if needed.

4. A nice dinner with the whole gang maybe Sunday evening.

tabs 03-08-2006 12:01 PM

A 993 at the Palace Station..U gotta be Kidding....let me put it to U this way...even a nerdowell like myself won't go into that place...and I go into some pretty scummy places...a 3 Star rating....HOW????

And the Orleans Buffet...TERRIBLE....

tabs 03-08-2006 12:05 PM

A Better Ride than up to MT Charleston would be, going up Charelston Ave past Red Rock Canyon and out to Blue Diamond,,then on to Pahrump. I think its more scenic......

red-beard 03-08-2006 12:18 PM

OK, Tabs, so which buffet should we be planning to raid?

jriera 03-08-2006 01:16 PM

Don't worry tabs, I'm trying to convince Leland and his wife to stay at my place.

The drive to Pahrump is a great idea ... I'm just afraid that some people will not make it back .. too much temptation in that town (and I'm not talking about the race track)

Choices on buffets are clear; either Wynn or Bellagio (or both)

Leland Pate 03-10-2006 03:43 PM

Whoops, By that comment I guess my email didn't go through. We thank you very much, Jordi but the room is already bought and paid for.
However, I will take you up on a quick ride in that beast of yours!

I can't tell if Tabs is being sarcastic or not. Is there something I should know about this hotel?

Superman 03-13-2006 08:07 AM

*****! I'll be in Las Vegas Sunday through Tuesday, but then I have to get back to Seattle. Crap. Looks like I'm gonna narrowly miss you guys. And ladies.

12own911 03-13-2006 08:10 AM

So Sup, does this mean you will not make the 24th - 26th?

jriera 03-13-2006 08:28 AM

Leland, the offer still there. Check the hotel and room and if you don't like it my home will still available. You can count on the ride.

Superman 03-13-2006 03:17 PM

Yes Kim. Unfortunately that is what it means. I had hoped and believed it would work out fine. The best laid plans.......

I am very uncomfortable with the thought of this Pelican community being loose in Las Vegas without a mature chaperone. Because of my unavailability, I may alert the local authorities.

jriera 03-13-2006 03:20 PM

Sup, send me an email if you want to get together for a beer while you are in here next week.

12own911 03-13-2006 03:21 PM

Bummer... oh the plans I had for you and me... :(

jriera 03-13-2006 03:24 PM

Just find out that for the 25 and 26 of March a group called 'Lapping Days' (no, I'm not making this out, see www.lappingdays.com) has some space available for other drivers. The people at the Las Vegas PCA says that the group is safe to drive with.

Superman 03-13-2006 04:31 PM

Umm, well, since you put it that way.....

Would it involve furry handcuffs?

Kettle, there's a pot calling...

12own911 03-13-2006 05:42 PM

Supe, There was... but now I guess I will leave them at home. No point bringing them now.

Kettle... pot... what do you mean Red?

nostatic 03-13-2006 10:55 PM

if i can do this, it will have to be a surgical strike. I'm thinking of riding my bike up friday am, then back saturday afternoon. will people be around?

red-beard 03-13-2006 11:15 PM

I think everyone will be in for Friday night. You might check out the Imperial Palace for Friday night...
