Angry Vash is right, People Suck!!!

People really do suck. Today I was driving through south central Oakland and I approach a red light. This is a controlled and fairly busy intersection, so the car in front of me stopped, and I stopped for the light as usual and no one is behind me (yet). Then comes this green *****box Saturn speeding behind me and then when he realized the light was red and the cars in front of him were stopped, TOO LATE . He ended up rear ending me at about ~3 MPH. I didn't see him from behind, but I felt a "push" and my car moved forward a little (my foot was on the brake when it happened). My first response is: "Crap!" and already being sick, tired and the weather being bad, I am not up to it to deal with this idiot. I just drive off when the light turns green, I switch lanes and next thing I know at the next stopllight, I'm parallel to this guy. I give him and his passenger the "WTF" look but the passenger just smiles and seems to be saying "we're sorry". Anyway, I continue to drive and pull over to inspect the damage. Thankfully there is not a scratch or bend in the bumper/rubber bumperette. I am VERY happy about that. But still, PEOPLE SUCK!!!

End of Rant.

Matt, you are only 16, right?
Wait until you get a little "life" experience. You will find idiots and dumba$$es all over.
Glad to hear there was no damage to the 911.

My wife came home from shopping awhile back. She said she had a little accident. She came to a red light and stopped. She said she didn't know why but she stepped on the gas while the light was still red and she hit the car in front of her. She tapped it and the lady pulled over. There was a cop behind my wife so he pulled over as well.

My then said, "Thats not the worst part..."
"Don't tell me, it was a Benz?"
"Nope."
"*****, you hit a beamer?"
"Yup - two screw marks in her bumber"
"That'll be an easy $500"
"Honey, I dodn't know what the heck happened, I guess I just spaced out"
"Well, It'll come out in backtime!"

I was off by $40.

Sometimes even the best of us do spacey things.

This is really bad and really stupid but I admit that every once in a while on the way to work in the morning some dingbat will be following a little close...drinking coffee...cup goes up to his/her mouth..their eyes forward...and at that beautiful moment I just DYNO the brakes in the Audi and then stand on the gas...

Every once in a while I get one to dump or snort coffee down the front of their shirt as they try to react...

Yeah pretty sad but that's how I get a laugh somedays.

(edited for spelling)

Mike, you make a point. Sorry for your wife to have hit that Beamer. I should mention that I was in a pretty bad part of town where gangbangers walk the streets when this happened. Seeing the two, poor, probably drugged and possibly armed people that rear ended me, another conclusion I came to was: "This is not a day that I want to be shot and killed" . Those of you who have driven through certain parts of Oakland probably know what I'm talking about.
BGCarrera32, LOL. I'm sure it gets amusing when it's a woman and she's wearing a white shirt.

You definitely did the right thing... aside from the drugs and guns issues they probably didn't have insurance, either... I suspect you're actually talking about east Oakland ("east" in Oakland is the direction from downtown to the coliseum, supposedly because that's roughly what you get with a magnetic compass). There are definitely areas down there you want to avoid... especially after dark... especially in a p-car...

That's nothin'
I used to drive a '77 Toyota Celica. At freeway speed, I could slip it out of 5th and over into the reverse channel, which would light up the backup lights.
People following too close have a tendency to back off REAL F*CKING FAST when they see bright white backup lights.

I've been tempted to put just such a switch to turn on the lights in one of my empty switch holes in front of my ashtray (924S)

My wife drove the 911 Tues because her Rangie was in the shop. She didn't release the parking brake and didn't notice until the SmarTire system started warning of 140F temps in the rear tires. Now I have no parking brakes, and as I temporarily have no usable garage or driveway and the rainy season is here, I'll have to pay a mechanic to replace the shoes . . . sigh. Normal people (?) can do stupid things.

I live in a town of about 120,000.

It's laid back, in the middle of nowhere (largest city for 50 miles in every direction). People drive courteously. During rush hour, on the main road, there is an accident maybe once a month. Maybe less.

That is...11 months out of the year.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's like we everyone turns into a Chicago driver. Speeding down streets at highway speeds, weaving in and out of traffic--all on snow or ice. Cutting people off, running red lights, making stopping in the left lane and making left hand turns trying to cut off people in the left turn lane. Idiots abound.

Yesterday, on the main road in town, there were six accidents. One was fatal (some lady rear-ended a garbage truck--truck was stopped, she was going very fast). One drunk guy hit a power line and knocked out power for a good portion of the city for several hours. (Which has me wondering if my furnace would work because it has an electric ignition.) All of this occurred between 11:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon! (Everyone works in this town.)

Legion-
I've been down your main drag when I picked up my car from its PO 3+ years ago, I could see how everyone trying to get to all of those stores during holiday time would make a mess.....At the time I was there, there was also a lot of construction that I'm sure made it even worse...

I remember trying guess how long it would take to get there from Milwaukee (where my folks live) when my bro and I went down to take a look at the car, boy did we underestimate, and man were we bored on that drive....flat, flat, flat with maybe one radio station tuning in until we got to the "twin cities" area....ahhh memories....
