So you're saying that expressing yourself clearly isn't important? I would think that on a forum such as this, getting your message across is of the utmost importance. I thought the title of this thread was on a par with the content of it's first post.
As for your other critism, feel free to look back about considering the source.

Please do not lump me in the "superior" group, I just know how to spell fairly well but simply click on the blue button when not sure. Did learn how to spell pretty good in Spanish before English at a young age but that's another story... Guess I am kinda old fashioned. We learned how to spell (and write as well) at school as a kid. We were always told that the ability to spell and write correctly was a sign of an educated person. Guess I never wanted to be a "less than educated person" so I kept learning, possibly too much judging from your post. Joe A

spelling is hardly the priority in posting on-line so let's drop it. however, u can get clues on someone's education level by the way they spell certain werds.

Joe, the primadonna group isn't the fact you can spell well, the primadonna group is being so completely petty about something irrelevant and stupid, someone else's spelling. Who are you, the guru of what's right or not about what to do in an internet FORUM?
Are you grading all the posts here teacher? |

Cool Chick, from you I will require a 540 Dinan supercharger kit, on-ramp a '76 or later 911 with a 3.6, and Joe isn't allowed to fly into Wichita and beat me up. That is all.

And fortunately for me, I require no assistance in improvement of grades, but thanks for the offer. Besides, I'm da teacha now. Last edited by cool_chick; 12-20-2005 at 03:56 AM.. |

Cool_Chick,
I responded to Slakjaw's post, not to belittle him, nor to make a political comment, but to ask for a little care in his communications. Why else are we peering at screens and typing (or in my case, pecking) on our keyboards, other than for the purpose of communication? I readily admit my bias in this matter. If I can't decrypt someone's St. Vitus' dance on the keyboard, I might have trouble taking what they are attempting to express seriously, or even understanding what it is they are saying. I suspect the same might be true with others "harping on it". By the way, I prefer the term "curmugeon" to "primadonna" ![]() Les

Yes you did. But you are not like most others harping here.....
Little tip if anyone cares....something I've noticed about Slakjaw, if there are errors, he's usually joking around....when he's serious and wants to seriously discuss the topic, the posts are ALWAYS cohesive, comprehensive, and spelled correctly. Slakjaw, maybe you should just ensure your posts meet that criteria more often....I dunno..... I also know spellcheck on here locks up sometimes and one loses the post... which completely sucks

Since I was the #1 spelling Nazi yesterday I will chime in. First, I was feeling feisty yesterday and felt like I had seen a few too many troll type posts from Slakjaw in the last week or so. So when he made the above post I decided to bust his b*lls a little. He has since made a very nice post and we have made up.
I also went after a lawyer on another thread about his spelling because his spelling was pretty darn bad in a post where he bragged about his $10 million in claims he has gotten for his clients. Given that I think plaintiffs lawyers are public enemy #1 in this country, he was too ripe a target to pass up. Mea culpa over. Now, as to my reasoning. First, spelling is a personal pet peeve of mine. I spend all day dealing with written communications and if you can't spell you can't communicate effectively, especially over the internet. I don't get all riled up when people have 2 or 3 words misspelled here or there, but when every other word is wrong and they are missing things like "and" or "or", it annoys me. Call me crazy. If we were on the technical forum it would be different. People go there to get mechanical advice on their Porsche. OT exists solely for people to talk to each other. There isn't another point. So if you come to a forum where the entire purpose is to talk to each other, I think being able to talk effectively does make a difference. And the specific words I posted about was traitor = trator and ENRON = ELRON. The trator part lead to a pretty funny thread about tractors, and well ELRON just speaks for itself.
