i've been wrong about tabs...
I've always thought that tabs is actually Ignatius J. Reilly. I believe that I have been mistaken though...he's actually Dr. Gene Scott!

Dr. Gene lives in Bradbury. He's evidently quite a character. My grad school advisor was mayor of Bradbury for awhile and had some stories about Dr. Gene, his horses, and his property lines/development...
