Shaun,
Nice job on tracking down an IP address, but really, does it matter. With that IP what can you really find out. My Name, address, phone, ssn, etc... probably not, or maybe. I don't know, but my guess is NOT.

Unless I'm wrong the dynamic IP will only tell you what network I'm on, but nothing about me. If I'm wrong let me know, but keep replies or info to DYNAMIC IP not static. I do know static is a totally different thing.

BTW, now I am really pissed, I HATE UUNET and my dial-up uses their network, no wonder my dial-up sucks. Speaking of which, although you found UUNET did you find exactly whose service I actually access the net from???

Not trying to incite, just trying to disagree and gain knowledge all at the same time.

Por2chby, you never pissed me off, but seeing how you got in the middle of a bunch of crap earlier, I had to include you for full effect. Using Shaun and Grommit without adding you, would have been, well, incomplete. Don't take it the wrong way, just having some fun. Remember those panties I spoke about, dude check yours. Its all good!

Have a great day,
Rich

haahahah..

rich, i dont know anymore info other than that.. and NO, i dont think it is THAT easy to be getting peoples address's and all that.. if it WAS like that, then imagine how much junk you would have in your mail box.

if someone gets your e-mail address, then send you MILLIONS of junk mail everyday. image if your home address was that easy to access. WOW! haha

Hey tex, ya, sure it's all good... my pants, they didnt get bunched up till your post gave (.....) the idea to dig up data on me and then threaten to post my home address. THEN, my pants got bunched. Not at you, but at the fact that every (......) with a keyboard would now try to harass me. Thanks be that I have a nice firewall to help keep the riff-raff out. Gona have to spread some more decon tonight.

So, you have a great evening, see ya on the other side.... p0r

Ok, IP logging is fine and dandy I run it on my BBS. But displaying FULL IP's is not a good idea. Thats why most BBS even the UBBS system used here has the option to not display IP's or only display partial IP's.

And if you have a dial up you will not be banned from IP alone. Since you will get a new one via DHCP server everytime you dial up. the only way to ban those is to ban IP's in that ISP's block of IP's. Like you could ban all AOL userer not just one. Or at least thats been my experience.

If you are afraid of having your IP seen on hte internet, disconnect. Every e-mail you send has YOUR IP in the header, as well as the IP of every mail server that forwarded the message. This is how I know that when a friend e-mails me from Maryland the message goes through Hawaii. As a network engineer, your IP is just like your street address. Having the address is only a starting point if you are going to break in. But then there are port scanners that will scan massive networks for vurnable computers. Wayne isn't dumb enough to risk the security of a large part of his client base. If you don't want you IP visable fine, but it doesn't matter.
