Ever regret selling something and wish you could get it back?

11 years ago when I was leaving home to go off to college I sold my 1989 YSR-50 to pay some bills. If you are not familiar with a YSR-50 it is similar to the Pocket bikes you see all over the place, but much higher quality and a blast to ride. They're street legal as well.

Anyway, I have always regretted selling it and wished I could find the one I sold and get it back. Not any YSR-50, I wanted mine back, it was custom painted to match a Kawasaki Ninja from the same time period and I loved it.

Well I was surfing craigslist on Saturday 12-31 and what do you know I see an add for a YSR-50. I click the link and had to do a double take at the pictures. It looked way too familiar. I asked the seller some questions and low and behold this was infact the bike I sold 11 years ago. It was a little banged up but nothing that can't be made perfect again. I had to have it back.

I picked it up tonight and spent some time riding it around the neighborhood, what a blast. Funny thing is the price has gone up alot on these since I sold it a decade ago. I paid 3x what I sold it for.

Here's a pic:

Not me, yet, I'm too young, but I know my dad would kill to have his 1949 Indian Chief back.

ya, my 5pc vintage Slingerland with a Speed King kick and a beevy of Zils, 2 sided toms with Remo oil-filled black dots with deadringers and the crispest chrome snare with cat gut underneath (sounded like you were ripping lettuce when you did a roll!).

I must have spent hours on that kit adjusting it just right so that all components provided optimal height to whiz around it with minimal effort.

Now your making want to cruz e-bay!

Well yeah, drums too. I sold a Slingerland snare that sounded like a "crack shot". Best snare I ever owned, hard to replace. And a set of Roto Toms to a guy who wanted to "rack" them "unskinned" like Terry Bozio and they sounded like low pitched chimes. Those I could probably pick back up.

A 1950s Omega Seamaster Chronograph that i was wearing when my first son was born. Sold it to pay some bills while i was in grad school. Found another just like it when i went back to work but it isn't the same

I will give it to my son when he has his first child.

Maybe I shouldn't ask, but why would you paint a Yamaha to look like a Kawasaki?

Anyway, the bike looks great and I'm glad you were able to get it back.

BTW, years ago, I rode a YSR-50 with a YZ125 motor stuffed in there. Scary, to say the least.

Congrats,
Jim

Now, if only I could find the '72 Datsun 510 I sold to help fund another semester in college. Baby blue with a black vinyl roof, L20B, Z rims. Sold to a guy in Long Beach back in '91 or so. Keep your eyes peeled, will ya?

I figured someone would ask. I actually bought the bike from a friend who had it painted to match his full size ninja. Those bike were pretty popular back then so it had some cool factor to have a pint size "ninja" to cruz Sonic. All the ladies loved it

I'd love to have my '73 Datsun 510 back. That car was so much fun, both on the street and at autocross.

Actually, it'd be fun to have my '71 Pinto back too... (not too ashamed to admit I had one - it was fun in high school)

Oh, and the '86 Gibson Les Paul Studio. That would be cool.

No, wait... I paid to... nevermind. (JK!)

I wish I still had my 72 GTO and my 70 Dart Swinger (factory 340).
That's about it.
