Project evil e30: Up and running!!

Finally figured out why massive amounts of oil comming out of the exhaust side of the turbo.I was using the oil inlet as the outlet and vise versa, yep Im a jackass....I was advised wrong.

So she idling great and boosting at around 8 psi. Actually alot quicker than I imagined. Now that I actually created a running turbo car (first timer ), I decided to reroute the intercooler to front mount and redo the oil return line (had a slight dip in it). So she is comming back apart.

Next up is a nice paint job (which color?), some R compounds, and euro bumpers.

I just hauled the 325e I bought recently to the house last night. It's my Rat Rod project designed to piss off people who think they are fast...my sleeper track hunter... LOL!

Your paint? I say a matte black. That's what I'm going for

Souk is right. If it's 'evil' then you're already partway there with the color on the front fender. Paint the rest of the car satin black.

John Deere Blitz Black. For an evil car there is no alternative.

Get the local airbrush guy to then overlay the paint with panels and rivets.

Souk, actually the 2.7 e motor is a great start for a stroker. Just get a "i" head. It bolts right on. Been done a million times.

I don't have firsthand knowledge either way, but the community of e30 folks I know seem to think because of the doming of the eta-engine pistons and the relative flatness of the eye-engine head, this doesn't work as well as it seems at first glance.

Terry, I'm with you brother! We have a dealer account with Ireland Eng. for the cool parts...if I decide not to go with the turbo 2.7 w/ "i" heads

wludavid: the "i" heads on the eta 2.7 will decrease compression ratio to about 8:1, perfect for a turbo project.

The few articles I read about the I head conversion used the euro 323i head not the 325i. Didnt seem to have clearence issuses but who knows. I haven't seen it done either. Check

Ireland is where I got my Stage 3 Race springs and stud kit. Seem like good quality at a cheaper price than H&R. Combine that with the Bilstien Sports and this beater will take some turns!

The main reason for me getting the 325 was to build a low bucks racer. Plus if I wad it up on the track, I can walk away w/o thinking I just lost 20K more like 2K

Yep..there are lots of low cost options out there. With our accounts we can prep an E30 for less than it would cost for wheels on my 911's. I'll still be driving and having fun with the 911s, but the 325 will be the balls to the wall runner...if itsa blowed up whosa cares...just go get another one and put the goodies on it.

The cheap replacement value is why I love this car. Motors are $500, shells are $700, race parts are %25 cheaper than p-car stuff. I cut into this car without batting an eyelash. And if I blew it up tomorrow I could care less.

My brother has a '92 318is and was considering the same thing.. That is until it tossed its timing belt three days ago which I believe means motor-mash Need parts???

Thats the beauty of the m10 4cyl. Timing chain, no belt.

The M42 didn't have a belt either. AFAIK, only the m20 was cursed with such a terrible design flaw. Maybe the chain tensioner went bad?
