The maximum speed the birds could maintain was 13–14 meters per second, and although the Lund study does not discuss cruising flight in particular, the most efficient flapping (7 beats per second) occurred at an airspeed in the range of 8–11 meters per second, with an amplitude of 90–100° (17–19 cm).

So it's really a "give or take" thing.
As a good Conservative I have always thought of myself as the giver type, and liberals the takers.

G9, Yes, I do know my place and its just as pictured above. I am the GOP elephant and you and your buddies are the DNC donkey, and its going to stay that way.

Lets go over this one last (hopefully) time. You told everyone on the forum that WE would get together and work this out. We did send a few PM's and then I suggested sending the funds to Bill Verburg, an impartial moderator. You on the other hand made up your feeble mind all on your own and picked someone else out of the blue. I have nothing against Lube but the way you decided yourself with no input from the other half is not correct. The sooner you admit your error we can move forward.

Now you seem to be trying to force me into sending my half of the bet to someone without doing as you posted, our working out between ourselves. Shoving something down another persons throat is not teamwork Shaun, and while it might work with your liberal friends, it aint gonna work with me. Before you use this as an excuse to end the bet, no I am not letting you out of your bet either.

Admit that you lied to everyone on the forum when posting that "we will work the details out with each other" then we can move on. Until you do this its going to be a stalemate. As well you seem to forget that I was the one who called for funds to be sent to an impartial source, well before you mentioned it. I suggested this for a simple reason. Many of us on the forum do not trust you and felt that you would "welsh" on the bet. Sending the funds to a third person when you were hot and bothered about the bet might make you a bit more honest or so we hoped.

You also might notice that you are the only one who has ever mentioned ended the bet. We never mention it unless its been brought up first. Why is this? Getting cold feet?

Also, your comments about "my being one person on the forum and another on email or PM's" is pure hogwash BTW. You are FOS (full of brown material) on several subjects and this is another one. As for Rodeo and my supposedly wishing him dead, well its all in his mind. He twisted a comment I made (his having his head in the sand and his body needs to join it) into a death threat. That boy is awful thin skinned.

Oh yea, I did not think about you after all last night. Was busy with "matters at hand" and she did have an "itch that needed scratching" so to speak and I was very glad to help a lady in distress. BTW it did not smell like fish nor taste like chicken. From the grin on her face right now I can assume that she slept well but her wakeup is going to arrive in 45 minutes or so. I just hope you enjoy life as much as I do and in such a "lonely" manner.

What a great thread! It goes from Feinstein (allegedly) demonstrating fellatio, to three guys (demonstratively) circle-jerking themselves over $500.

Now I see what I missed while at the car show today.

just send the check Joe, or explain why you don't trust Mike. You did at one time. Why not now? Type all you like, just send the check.

Never said that you threatened me. I said that you wished me dead. Which you did.

Maybe I am thin skinned, but you are unbalanced. Hoping someone will die because you disagree with their politics is not the sign of a healthy mind.

Be careful Shaun …

I think it's quite interesting in a psychological study kind of way.

Shaun (tired of the demasculinizing comments)is desperately trying to acquire some sort of "hand" in this little pissing match by getting Joe to "obey" his demand allowing him to sit at the proverbial head-of-the-table. And in the reverse Joe refuses to let a guy that sells dresses for a living (his words) lead him around by the nose.

Shaun knows he shouldn't have just sent the money to a third party without an agreement from Joe on that party and other details.

Joe knows that Lubemaster is a perfectly honest third party and would have surely agreed upon these details had Shaun actually asked him before acting.

But it's not about that is it......

Looking down his bifocals like some of sort of old, degenerate yet weirdly robust headmaster – an ageless man-child of misguided power who’d lost his moral authority long ago but, with the help of influential men, "reclaimed" it (and there is no fiercer moralism like the reclaimed kind, the kind that has defeated conscience!), his holy baritone booming, he showed us how utterly the Left has come to embrace and exemplify the new McCarthyism. The stench of it seeps through a television.

He read inflammatory articles from the journal of a college undergraduate club which Alito once belonged to (articles Alito of course did not write), he badgered him with references to conduct Alito never displayed, repeated "code word" denigrations Alito never spoke, and the whole time waved the infamous “unspecified papers” of indictment over Alito's head. Essential McCarthyism. Lacking truth and content, rooted in the determined will to slander, McCarthyism is a violation of human decency, a destroyer of all hope for civil discourse. It is, truly, the last refuge of the intellectually dissolute. Kennedy didn't disappoint...
I think this is one of the best descriptions of the hearings I have read. I don't really remember anything like this when the Dems put there last few nominations in. Decay of society, right there on C-Span.

I think the founders of our country expected the best and brightest to come forward and serve the country, and to a large degree, I believe it still happens. I am dubious how long this could continue, with the tone these hearings seem to display. Would you go through hearings like these with the aplomb of Mr. Alito? I know I would not be as restrained.

Rick, religion is not my strong suit ... In fact, my 1st wife and I split over religious differences.

She was atheist.

I’m agnostic.

We couldn't agree on which God not to believe in.

Rim shot! Thank you very much, I'll be here all week!

Len, didn't know you wrote fiction for a living. HBO needs you man.

No, the simple fact is that Joe is not a man of his word and has very little integrity, something I don't say lightly. His split personality, manifest threats and lonliness only serve one master, that is to carry on the conversation, stay in the spotlight as much as possible. A game I'm not willing to play. As a man of action, I like a good game, but this one tired fast. I acted. Joe typed, and continues to do so since it's all he's got.

He knows where to send the check, to whom it should be made out. Just send the check Joe.

Just send the check.
