Friday the 13th for Ayman al-Zawahiri?

Jan. 13, 2006 — Today, according to Pakistani military sources, U.S. aircraft attacked a compound known to be frequented by high-level al Qaeda operatives. Pakistani officials tell ABC News that al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, may have been among them.

Let's hope we got the SOB.

I hope we nailed him, and may he burn in hell. Unfortunately, I think this snake has more than one head.

Looks like another miss. The military or politicos should not get our hopes up. They should've learned after "Mission Accomplished."

I do hope they nail al-Zaawahiri soon. And hopefully bin-Laden's already bought the farm. Any word from that ba$tard lately?

This country should allow torture in special circumstances if it's put to a country wide vote each time.

No torture normally needed, just turn the perp over to the families of the WTC disaster. Put them together in a closed room and 5-10 minutes later bet that the information will be available.

The Arabs do this. The men do not normally torture their victims. They turn them over to the women, who then do things to them that I have been told are indescribable. Hope none of us ever find out.

Am I the only one that sees something wrong here?

Like RoninLB said, PR for the masses, I thought it was odd too. Did you see the claims that some of the bodies vanished shortly after the attack for probable DNA testing? Spooky.

No. You're correct that something is not right with the Pakistani cooperation. If we could trust them, it should be possible for us to give them the info about where we suspect the al queda operatives were holed-up and have the Pakistani military go in. Instead we have to rely on drones to take out targets with the risk of collateral damage. When we took out the #3 al queda man last month with a drone, Pakistani govt spokemen claimed that he had died "from mishandling explosives", despite eye-witness reports of a missile strike. They don't want to give us credit for a "kill", and apparently they don't have the control of their tribal areas necessary to help us kill or capture these guys.

Mushareff has only one friend and that is GW..well make that 2 if you consider Blair.

Al Qaeda tried to whack him twice in 2004...

If Bin Laden hadn't done 911, there is a good chanch he could have toppled the Pakistani govt and installed a Fundlementalist Govt in its place.....

So for Pakistan to to say it doesn't allow US troops into their country....is to help prop up the govt and well in reality its a case of don't ask don't tell.....but we are in there daddy.

Foreigners had been invited to dinner, Pakistani official says

Tuesday, January 17, 2006; Posted: 8:35 a.m. EST (13:35 GMT)

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) -- At least four foreign terrorists died in the U.S. airstrike purportedly aimed at al-Qaeda's No. 2 man, the provincial government said Tuesday.
A statement by the administration of Bajur, a Pakistan tribal region bordering Afghanistan, also said that 10 to 12 foreign extremists had been invited to dinner at the village hit in Friday's attack.

Pakistani intelligence officials have said Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, had been invited to a dinner in the targeted village of Damadola to mark an Islamic holiday but did not show up and sent some aides instead.

The statement was the first official confirmation by Pakistani authorities that foreign militants were killed in the attack, which officials have said also killed innocent civilians.

The provincial government did not identify who the foreigners were or who was the target of the missile strike.

"Four or five foreign terrorists have been killed in this missile attack whose dead bodies have been taken away by their companions to hide the real reason of the attack," the statement said, citing the chief official in the Bajur region where Damadola is located.

"It is regrettable that 18 local people lost their lives in the attack, but this fact also cannot be denied, that 10-12 foreign extremists had been invited on a dinner," it said.
