Congratulating Ahmadinejad on taking office as the 6th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Chavez said his country's policy was based on the principles of fraternity with the IRI and other countries. "We are after a multipolar rather than a unipolar world," he said.

He also called for further strengthening of bilateral ties between Tehran and Caracas as well as closer cooperation between Iran, Venezuela and Algeria within the Group-15 organization.

Chavez expressed hope to visit Iran at the first opportune time.

Ahmadinejad thanked Chavez and on his part called for stronger Iran-Venezuela ties.

RE: Venezuela, I think we've got more to worry about in terms of a relationship with China.

Every Central and South American leader has been to China recently signing raw material and arms deals. The State Department is doing nothing, not even on the radar screen.

The distance from Caracas to Miami is about 1,500 miles... about the same as the distance from Miami to New York... I'd call that "in our back yard"... Isn't your back yard comparable in size to your house?

You're right. China has its hands all over the Panama canal through the Hutchinson Whampoa company, and they are spreading their tentacles throughout cental and south america. It seems like any foe of the US be it China or Iran will be trying to exploit the anti-Americanism of leftist dicators from down south.
