Ok, so I like champagne.....
In fact I probably drink a bottle every two or three weeks. No not the cheap stuff, but it doesn't have to be >$100 either. The livelier the better.
Should add that I drink a lot of wine as well, probably a 4 or 5 to 1 ratio. I actually get cravings for it, am I alone?

Nice dry sparkling wine with oysters on the half shell. Beautiful stuff. I float the oyster in a little champagne with a drop or two of lemon juice. The little oysters are the best. I love blue points when I can get them.

Sometimes there's nothing better than a big fat juicy oyster with the finest julienne of ginger, rice wine vinegar, lemon and drop of soy all sloshing around in your mouth.

Here is a link to a winery that has great sparkling wines (champagne). Visited there over the xmas vacation with family and WOW. Even Wine Spectator ranks it quite high (2000 Brut). Ended up buying more then our share. Their Pinot is also very nice.
Argyle Winery

Yum Veuve....and Osters are the best. When in Cape Cod there's no better place than Wellfleet.. In fact it's where the Indians taught the Europeans about the delicacy...or so I'm told. For a low $$$ I like Cordon Negro as well.

I used to work here:
http://www.frankfamilyvineyards.com/shop/jsp/wines.jsp Good stuff. Bubbly made the old way, bottle fermenting etc. Don't know about reviews/scores, but anyone I have poured this for raves.... -Chris

My favorite champaign is Pol Roger Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill. I can't afford to drink it often....and I don't drink it anymore because it's French.

Dom Perignon or Perrier Jouet, a notch above the Veuve Clicquot.

Piper Heidsieck - http://www.piper-heidsieck.com/
You can find it on sale at Trader Joe's sometimes for under $30/bottle ( seem to recall getting some for $19.99 once). I like the cuvče brut. Note: Piper Sonoma is NOT the same stuff...it is cheaper and you can tell. |
