Just joined PCA, Panorama has Motormeister ads?!?
I finally got around to joining PCA and I was very disappointed to see a full page Motormeister ad in Panorama. Do they have no concern for Porsche owners? I'm very tempted to cancel my membership.

There are a LOT of P-car owners out there that don't know anything about them. That's why they are still in business I guess.
When I got my first P-car and joined the PCA I ran across their ad. I said "WOW" those prices seem very reasonable if not lower than just about everyone else. It wasn't until I learned about this web site to find out what people really thought of them. I'll be staying clear of them for sure.

Read the advertising disclaimer published in PANO very carefully.
Then go to the net to get the skinny on those who advertise. Yep, PANO loves advertising revenue...

I would not let them work on anything I own.
I have no problem buying parts from them though. |

I was very, very close to being a MM customer. I even had their literature on my desk, and had made several calls to them about the work I wanted done. The prices were definately a factor.
Then I had somebody suggest that I google them. Which is how I found Pelican and Rennlist. And I'm sooo very glad I did.

I don't know anything about this company, but when a magazine starts banning ads based upon the reputation of the advertiser, that is a dangerous road. First, they could kick somebody out undeservedly. More importantly, they implicitly vouch for the ones they don’t kick out. Very dangerous.
Unless someone has been convicted of a crime, it's best to let the marketplace do the culling out.

Good point Rodeo. Just sad when you see a new MM customer/victim.

I just checked the new Excellence I received today (good write up on the RUF yellowbird) and there's no MM ad. Hmmm, makes you wonder. Maybe Jared has hit the nail on the head.
BTW, I joined PCA because I plan to do some DE's this year not for the mag. I'm already a member of the BMWCCOA which I believe alternates hosting DE's in Texas so maybe I have wasted some more money. Since I actually buy parts from the BMW dealer, my yearly membership is usually paid for at my first visit of the year as opposed to the Porsche dealer which sees none of my money.

Heck I found out about MM from Pano, and then I found out how bad they are from my PCA region's Tech Chairman. He hates that they were aloud to advertise in Pano and our region's magazine as well.

That almost makes it sound like they sell parts from engines in for an overhaul?

Yep. Story on this board about a guy who sent him a 3.3 Turbo engine for a rebuild into a promised "normally aspirated engine that would outpower the Turbo". Got back a 2.7 mid-year engine with Weber carbs. I assure you that 3.3 engine was re-sold to someone else. Sheisters to the end. |
